New 90 Day Fiancé star Ben Rathbun responds to a follower who accused him of traveling to Peru despite knowing that Mahogany Roca's father didn't approve of him. The 52-year-old is pursuing 24-year-old Mahogany on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. Ben introduced himself as a dad of four who believes that God has led him to his young love interest. After chatting with Mahogany for a few months, he went to Peru to meet her in person.
Most 90 Day Fiancé viewers think Ben is extremely naive to get into a relationship and commit to a foreign woman without even video chatting with her. Ben is now proving them right with Mahogany's various lies. He got emotional in one episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days because Mahogany didn't show up at the airport. She texted him not to come as her dad objected to their relationship. In fact, she didn't even share her real location with him and gave Ben someone else's address.
The no-show incident may make Ben appear clueless, but a recent comment makes him look hypocritical. On one of Ben's latest posts on Instagram, a follower called him out by commenting, "My husband would kick your a** if you were trying to be with our 22 yr old daughter." Ben quickly responded to the viewer by clarifying that her husband "wouldn't have to" attack or injure him. He continued, "I would never move forward with any relationship that the father objected to." According to Ben, all a father has to do is say the word, and he would discontinue the relationship. Ben concluded, "I believe in family first."
Although Ben said he prioritizes family, many 90 Day Fiancé viewers were not moved by his comment. A Redditor pointed out the lie in Ben's response by commenting on a reshare of his statement by dasuberblonde. The user said, "He literally did move forward by still going to Peru." According to the viewer, the father of four expected his young girlfriend to meet him despite knowing her father disapproved. Another Redditor pointed out the hypocrisy in Ben's actions and wrote, "Didn't Mahogany's 'father' apparently object to the situation and Ben did NOT respect that…?" Although Ben is now in Peru to meet Mahogany, some clues suggest their relationship doesn't work out, probably due to her dad's objection.
Ben's story on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 5 is unique. There have been couples who have never met each other in the past, but they always had one thing or another in common. Even cast members like David Murphey and Lana had a common interest in traveling. However, Ben seems to be in a relationship that is entirely based on his faith and beliefs. Hopefully, he'll be able to find what he seeks and deserves by the end of his time on the 90 Day Fiancé spin-off.
