Marta Maldonado had one of the first storylines in the 90 Day Fiancé franchise wwhere catfishing seemed to be involved, and little is known about what she's been up to since starring on the show. Single mother Marta starred in 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 2. Marta, who is an exotic dancer, connected online with a man named Daya from Algeria, whose never revealed his last name. She initially thought he was a catfish; however, they spoke for about a year, even though they didn't speak the same language. Marta and Daya even had different religious backgrounds, and Daya was pushing Marta to convert from Catholicism to his religion of  Islam. The situation caused a rift between the couple, and Daya stopped replying frequently. The Milwaukee native then planned to visit Daya in Algeria for two weeks.

Once the former 90 Day Fiancé star discovered that in order to visit Algeria, she needed a signed invitation letter from the Algerian resident she would be visiting, it became difficult for her to enter the country. Despite calling Marta his wife before even having met, Daya never sent her an invite, so she was unable to go. Therefore, the couple never met in person. In addition, neither one of them appeared on the Tell-All. After watching Marta on the show, sleuthing 90 Day Fiancé fans thought the photo of "Daya" shown on B90 was actually a photo of Aboubakr Ziani, a Moroccan man who garnered Internet fame by making prank videos. This was never confirmed or denied - until now!

In September 2021, Marta, who disliked by fans, did an interview with YouTuber Loush in which she stated that she video-chatted with Daya several times, and he is a real person, not a catfish. The former reality star revealed that she wasn't on the 90 Day Fiancé Tell-All because Daya was upset they were asking him so many questions about his religion and wanted to stop doing the show. Marta then told TLC they were out; however, she admitted she regrets that decision. Marta alleged that she and Daya still talk on occasion but are not in a relationship. Marta explained that after Daya she got into a relationship with another man who's background is Muslim and had a child with him. However, she revealed that he's no longer in the picture. Now, her child is a little over a year old. The 90DF: Before the 90 Days season 2 star announced that she and her three children are "doing fine" and have the help of her mother.

Marta now owns three businesses in addition to being a dancer, according to her Instagram. Marta's private Instagram account lists the IG handles for a remodeling company, a fashion design company, and a pole-dancing studio, all of which she owns. Although some of Marta's posts promote her businesses, most of her posts feature her children. In addition to the daughter she recently had, Marta's other two children are now in 4th grade and middle school, respectively. The former 90 Day Fiancé star also shares a lot of motivational quotes in the captions of her photos. Judging by a few of the photos she has posted, it would also appear that Marta does boxing as a hobby. However, her ex Daya's Instagram was unable to be found.

The interview with Marta portrayed her as a hard-working 90 Day Fiancé mother who truly cares about the well-being of her children. Many fans are curious about what happened to Marta and her online boyfriend Daya after the show. However, knowing that she and Daya asked to quit the show explains why not much is known about either of them. Many fans believe Daya was a catfish, so they will likely find it very interesting that Marta claims he is not. It seems unlikely that either one of them will appear on any 90 Day Fiancé spin-offs anytime soon.
