The Potthast family has been receiving nonstop criticism from 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? viewers, but Libby’s sister Becky is putting her foot down to critics. Andrei and Libby Castravet have been known for their arrogant and lazy ways, but 90 Day Fiancé franchise fans have grown to dislike Libby’s chaotic and arrogant family even more than the couple. While Becky attempted to lash out at her critics, viewers came right back around to slam her statement and question if she broke her contract after she’s done nothing but stir up trouble all season.
Andrei has been at war with his in-laws for the entirety of Happily Ever After? season 6, a plot line that has carried on from earlier seasons. Though hotheaded brother Charlie was voted the most annoying Potthast family member, Libby’s sister Becky has inserted herself into the center of the family drama. Sunday night’s episode showed Becky and Andrei confronting each other during the disastrous family road trip patriarch Chuck planned. Becky once again accused Andrei of using Chuck to get in on the family business even though viewers believe all of the Potthast siblings are equally greedy and entitled to Chuck’s money. Andrei called his sister-in-law a drama queen and their relationship was overall left in the same messy place it is always in.
In the wake of criticism, Becky took to her Instagram in a now-deleted post to slam critics in a scathing rant that included saying her appearance on TV was “ONLY for entertainment” and that it was “a character I portray on a show.” One viewer reposted her rant on Reddit with the caption, “More proof that this show is fake or Becky using it as an excuse for her behavior?” Many commenters immediately noted that Becky appeared to be breaking her contract with TLC with her word choices. “A ‘character’ I portray. NDA breached! Becky you're fired,” one top comment reads. “Hopefully this means they’ll finally get booted from the show AND they won’t get a spin off?! Fingers crossed,” another person wrote. Others weren't convinced TLC would remove the Potthast family so easily.
Some commenters considered Becky’s rant a failed excuse to justify her consistently bad behavior. “Why don't these people realize that they're selling out their own integrity when they ‘play a character on a show’? She's not an actress on a fictional show. She's portraying HERSELF as that person for the world to see. It's like the most fundamental version of a sellout possible,” another commenter shared. Others believed any backlash Becky received was justified. “If you are on a TV show using your own name and your own family and life situations you are fair game for scrutiny and mean remarks,” one comment reads. Some viewers thought Becky was a hypocrite for quoting God in her rant and displaying full nudity online on her OnlyFans. “Well Becky, if you can't take the heat get out of the RV,” another person wrote.
Though the Potthast family receives steady viewer criticism, they are rumored to be trying to obtain their own spin-off show. Fans are hoping to see the family removed on TV given their endless bad behavior, repetitive drama, entitled attitudes and criminal history. Libby is the only one of her siblings who appear on the show who has not been arrested, while Chuck also has a criminal history that includes shady and allegedly unethical business practices. Many 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? fans would be happy to see the Potthast family replaced with fresh faces for new storylines.
