Avery Mills and Omar Albakour shared their love story on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. The young American and her Syrian husband have revealed that they made their marriage work despite their background differences, as Avery finds life in the Middle East to be preferable to her time in America.

Avery and Omar met on a Muslim dating app after the 19-year-old Columbus, Ohio, resident Avery converted to Islam. Avery explained that she was always drawn to the religion and her friends helped her to understand it better and convert due to her own desires. Avery and Omar became engaged before meeting in person, though Avery was able to visit Omar's siblings in New Jersey prior to him popping the question. The couple got married upon first meeting. Unfortunately, Omar was unable to join Avery in the United States due to the travel ban. After spending more than a year of married life apart, the couple announced that they were finally living together. Avery, who is now on the verge of turning 22, recently joined her 27-year-old husband of two years in the Middle East. The couple now calls Dubai home.

Since moving in together, Omar and Avery have been active on social media. The couple shares a YouTube and Instagram account. They uploaded a fan Q&A video on February 3 to their OMAVERY YouTube channel. In the video, Avery opened up about her religious conversion, her relationship with Omar and life in the Middle East. Avery confirmed that the couple is living in Dubai, which is a city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the 21-year-old stated that she experienced no cultural shock with her move. "In all honesty, I prefer living in the Middle East. It’s extremely more safe than the USA," Avery stated. "Abu Dhabi is the safest city in the world," she added, stating that the couple visits the nearby city frequently. Avery said that she believed Dubai “really has it all,” since it contains various ways of life. She explained that women wear everything from bikinis to niqābs. The American emphasized how much she loves living in the UAE, citing that there is nothing she misses about life in America, since she can even go skiing in an indoor mall. You can view a screenshot from the video below:

When the couple was featured on the hit TLC show, Avery's mother was shown being concerned about the possibility of her daughter moving across the world. Avery stated that her mother has come to accept her religious conversion and life choices after seeing how positive of an impact they have had on her life. The couple has also had to combat criticism from people online who didn't understand Avery's conversion. Some people believed that Omar pressured the young American to convert to Islam, though Avery has stated numerous times that she converted before meeting Omar. Additionally, rumors appeared online accusing Omar of abusing and controlling Avery. Avery has maintained that Omar has never abused her and that the couple has a loving and happy marriage. She expressed no reservations about their relationship and said that she is extremely happy living in Dubai, as the couple knows how to make living in the pricey city affordable.

While Avery and Omar are opening up more on social media, fans of the couple will not be catching them on TLC anytime in the future. The couple firmly stated that they will not be returning for any new 90 Day Fiancé show content, as they have said the show is not for them. Therefore, fans will have to follow them on YouTube and Instagram to keep up with their lives in Dubai and to follow along with Avery's Halal cooking content.
