On 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, Asuelu Pulaa has been acting like a third child for his wife, Kalani Faagata, to raise. Since Kalani already has two children, it's obvious her patience is wearing thin. Kalani has tried to explain to her husband why she needs help, but he is now simply ignoring her pleas for teamwork causing the two to take a trip to therapy. On a ride to Washington to see his family, Asuelu and Kalani went through hell with their two children. Asuelu was homesick and wanted to see his relatives, but he doesn't seem to realize he needs to put his children’s well-being first.
This offense is just the latest in a long line of behaviors from Asuelu’s family that have 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, viewers confused about why the reality star is not standing up for his immediate family.
Fans watched as Asuelu’s mother demanded money from her son and was highly disappointed that he did not have $1,000 for her. The matriarch kept saying that the island way has been forgotten by her son even though the reality star has explained that the family is struggling to make ends meet. During the uncomfortable episode, Asuelu tried to explain to his Samoan family saying, "I’m not single anymore. My money, it’s Kalani’s money. Kalani’s money is my money." But the sneak peek showed his extended family coming to town with Asuelu sitting his mother down demanding she apologizes to his wife. The reality star’s mother made it clear that she would not do that and in turn, asked that her son divorce his wife. Fans were floored by the request proving once and for all that, his mother cares nothing about him and is just in the relationship for the money.
Kalani’s father, Low, is bound to get involved since he does not let anyone walk all over his children. Fans feel for Asuelu since he is still getting used to the American way. It would have been nice if he could have reconnected with his family but it does not look like reconciliation is in the cards for him.
