Ariela Weinberg from 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way recently revealed why she really did the reality TV show with Biniyam Shibre in Ethiopia--and fans are surprised. Pregnant Ariela moved to Addis Ababa in season 2 of the 90 Day Fiancé spin-off to deliver Aviel. Financial and trust issues marred the TLC couple’s relationship, but life after the show has been very different for Ari and Bini. The talented Biniyam is gaining fame for his “Dancey Dancey” video, with even Chrissy Teigen applauding him, while Ariela has been shocking Instagram with her weight loss and by still being together with him.
The problems between Ariela and Biniyam on The Other Way sometimes got so tragic that fans wondered if this dramatic relationship would even last until the finale. 90 Day Fiancé's Biniyam had a sketchy past himself, with his ex-wife Bria and first baby having left him for still unknown reasons. Meanwhile, Ariela, who was a world traveler and stayed in Ethiopia, previously had issues with the living conditions Biniyam provided her with. The couple somehow managed to keep their relationship status under wraps when the show aired. But since it was revealed that they got engaged in the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way finale, Ariela and Biniyam sang a different tune on Instagram.
Back in December 2020, an Instagram DM from Ariela was posted by a 90 Day Fiancé blogger where she’d confessed, “We did the show because Bini is an entertainer (artist, dancer, circus performer, martial artist, etc.) and I wanted the world to see his talent and get him opportunities.” The mother of one also mentioned that since 90 Day Fiancé's Sojaboy had already done this, Biniyam getting fame out of 90 Day Fiancé wouldn’t be a problem. Now a 90 Day Fiancé fan on Reddit happened to spot a comment from Ariela, adding more to the revelation after being confronted on Instagram.
“I just find it sad that it’s obvious people don’t participate [on] 90 Day Fiancé for the sake of love, but just to become famous,” a comment said on Ariela’s Instagram page. The former Princeton resident replied, “Why would anyone open themselves up to ridicule and mockery for the sake of [a] TV show?” 90 Day Fiancé star Ariela then answered herself by adding, “To get something out of it.” According to Biniyam’s partner, “No one goes on TV to show how in love they are.” Ariela, who’s been looking very different after her makeover, claims that “the filming commitment” weeds out a lot of people. And according to Ariela, such comments are nothing but “ridiculous criticism” from her fans.
While it’s not new for fans to accuse a franchise star of using the reality TV show for clout or even faking relationships with their international partners entirely for a sweet TLC check, someone like Ariela being open about the situation is rare. Fans have come to realize that 90 Day Fiancé's Ariela and Biniyam may not have had as many issues in their love life as the show portrayed and that their 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way storyline may have been made far more dramatic than it actually was to get people talking.
