90 Day Fiancé season 9 cast member Ariela Weinberg shared her response to Biniyam Shibre’s sister Wish throwing wine in her face in the upcoming season’s trailer. New Jersey resident Ariela and Ethiopian man Biniyam were introduced to TLC viewers on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 2. Amidst Ariela’s pregnancy, move to Addis Ababa and religious differences between her and Bini, the couple were engaged in the finale. During The Other Way season 3, Ariela and Biniyam experienced turbulence owing to their past, with him finally arriving in the United States for the Tell-All. But the reunion also featured drama between Ari and Bini’s sisters Wish and Mimi, which hasn’t been resolved upon their franchise comeback.
Ariela and Biniyam are the only returning couple from 90 Day Fiancé in season 9, with the rest of the six pairs being reality TV newcomers. Fans found out that Biniyam got his K-1 visa during his last appearance on the TOW Tell-All. At the same time, Ariela got into an ugly spat between Wish and Mimi about how they lied to her to create problems between Ariela and Biniyam. Earlier in the season, Wish and Mimi expressed they weren’t happy with Ariela’s proximity with her ex-husband, Leandro. After Ariela had to unexpectedly return to America for baby Avi’s surgery with Biniyam still in Addis Ababa, Wish and Mimi told her that he was entertaining other women in their house. However, Wish denied telling anything to Ariela, which made the Princeton native call the sisters “pathetic” for poisoning her mind against their brother as she stomped off the set. Back then, Biniyam tried to diffuse Ariela’s fight with his sisters by claiming it was a “girl problem.”
But the problem is much deeper than it seems, according to the 90 Day Fiancé season 9 trailer, so much so that Ariela couldn’t stop herself from commenting on it on Instagram even before officially announcing herself as a cast member for the new season. The scene appears to have taken place over dinner before Biniyam left for the U.S. Wish tells Ariela that they see her as their sister, which she doesn’t agree with. “She don’t respect us. She don’t respect him and I think she’s psycho,” Wish tells the 90 Day Fiancé cameras. Ari taunts them by saying, “I’m not going to marry you guys. I’m marrying Biniyam,” as Wish picks up her wine and aims it right at a shocked Ariela’s face. “BTW wine really burns,” Ariela confessed in her Instagram update.
In the comments from the 90 Day Fiancé YouTube page about the trailer, fans are showing Ariela sympathy while calling out Wish for how immature she is. Fans noticed how Ariela was shocked when the alcohol landed on her face but kept her calm and did not react in an explosive way. “If that were me...may god have mercy on your soul. Ari kept it together!” wrote an Ari supporter. Fans agree that Biniyam’s sisters need to back off and stop putting their noses in their brother and Ariela’s personal business. It was Wish who fed Ariela lies about Biniyam possibly cheating on her and turning their family home into a party house, which almost ended their relationship.
Ariela has tried multiple times to become friends with Wish and Mimi and even confided in them about her closeness with her ex, Leandro. But the sisters called Ariela inviting Leandro to stay with her and Biniyam “white people ****" while also dropping a bombshell to reveal that Ariela stayed with him at his house during her last U.S. visit. It appears Ariela is still bitter about how Wish and Mimi behaved with her on 90 Day Fiancé. And her claiming that the wine burned her face is perhaps a metaphor for how she’s also burned bridges with them.
90 Day Fiancé season 9 premieres April 17 at 8 p.m. EDT on TLC.
