In 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 3, Ariela Weinberg and her ex-husband Leandro have revealed the real reason why their marriage ended. Biniyam Shibre and Ariela are a popular couple from the 90 Day Fiancé franchise who first appeared in TOW season 2 and quickly became fan-favorites. Fans kept wondering what Ari and Bini were up to after they had baby Aviel and got engaged in Ethiopia on the season 2 finale. As TLC viewers waited for Ariela and Biniyam’s next 90DF appearance updates, the trailer revealed they were getting an unexpected guest in their storyline – Leandro.
Fans took to social media to find out why Ariela was being visited by her ex-husband, who was hardly spoken about in 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 2. As the premiere date inched closer, former freelance writer Ari confessed she was still very good friends with Leandro, whom she married when she was 19. Being a globetrotter and recently shifting her home base to Ethiopia while also becoming a new mom didn’t allow Ariela to make new, close friends, but Leandro managed to stay in her life. Ari met her first husband after she visited Argentina with her mom Janice.
Ariela refused to come back home with her mother and was studying Spanish as she continued to live in Argentina for two years. After meeting Leandro, Ariela first became best friends with him and later took him to the US to marry him. Ariela and Leandro got married six months later. As per Ariela, they stayed together for ten years, though they were separated for the last three. However, during her debut on TOW season 2, Ariela shared she did eventually get divorced from Leandro in 2018.
Leandro’s Presence Threatens Ari & Bini’s Relationship
On the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 3 premiere, Ariela revealed Leandro was coming to visit herself, Biniyam, and Avi. It was easy to see that Biniyam perceives Leandro as a threat and was shocked when Ariela revealed she was confiding in her ex-husband when she and Bini were fighting. To prepare for Leandro’s arrival, Ariela wore a figure-hugging dress, got her nails done, and forgot to wear Biniyam’s ring. Biniyam felt Ari was ashamed of letting Leandro see the ring, as it cost less than a dollar.
Biniyam Asks Why Ariela & Leandro Aren’t Together Anymore
The passive-aggressiveness in Biniyam’s voice was evident as he saw Ariela getting a bra as a present from Leandro, although he claimed he has a girlfriend who helped him pick it out. When curiosity got the better of Bini, he asked Ari and Leandro about why they broke up. Leandro called it a “decaying experience,” as Ariela shockingly added, “We never actually broke up, I just never came home.” New Jersey native Ariela and Leandro were supposed to move to Indiana together, but she never joined him and decided “to travel the world.” Having married at a young age, Ariela never got to explore her own personality, so she simply left. Ariela admitted Leandro expected her to come back and she too thought they’d “eventually get back together.”
Ariela Apologizes To Leandro
Ariela apologized to Leandro for taking off and never coming back, and he spoke of being “mad in the beginning.” Additionally, Ariela didn’t really break up with Leandro. Instead, she took a “hiatus,” as she believed they’d be getting back together. But she soon met Bini. Being scared of talking to Leandro, Ariela kept the option open of returning to their comfortable life in case her new plan didn’t work out. The young mother Ariela felt guilty about the way she treated Leandro just because she didn’t want to lose him.
