90 Day Fiancé viewers heaved a sigh of relief when Ariela Danielle and Biniyam Shibre revealed their baby son’s name was not “Simba.” Amidst all the drama about their new home in Ethiopia and Ariela’s emergency C-section, the TLC couple had not decided on a baby name. And with the baby’s baptism to worry about, the debate about Ariela choosing a Hebrew name, and Biniyam opting for an Ethiopian name began. However, as Ariela doesn’t have a social media ban to worry about anymore, the 90 Day Fiancé star revealed that her son’s name is “Aviel” and fans now want to know its unique meaning!

On the latest 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way episode, TLC viewers saw an anxious Ariela having her emergency delivery due to the baby’s breech position. Biniyam, who fans thought ended up adding to her anxiety, rather than calming her down still tried his best to play dutiful dad. It was Biniyam’s opinion about women in Ethiopia and natural birth that faced flak, and later it was his sister Wish who suggested the baby’s baptism which upset the new mother. Ariela, who’s Jewish, has always been wary of the baptism as per Biniyam’s Orthodox customs, and this could be what creates problems for the 90 Day Fiancé couple’s future storyline. However, fans were also shocked to find out the baby didn’t have a name yet, as Biniyam and Ariela oscillated between naming him Simba and Aviel. But as Ariela broke her silence on Instagram by showing off their baby son’s photos to the world, she also revealed that her final choice was obviously, the Hebrew name.

The 90 Day Fiancé pair had started dating somewhere around March 2019 and gave birth to their baby on December 17, 2019. Since Ariela was first introduced on the TLC reality show as an expectant mother shifting base to Ethiopia, fans were always curious to know more about her and Biniyam’s baby. Last month, Ariela had conveyed her frustration at not being able to share her sweet moments online as any new parents would due to her contract. But as soon as the new 90 Day Fiancé episode aired, Ariela and Biniyam both posted a bunch of baby Aviel Shibre’s pictures on Instagram and via Us. Speaking to the publication, Ariela confessed that she and Biniyam had also considered the names Gabriel and Israel for the newborn. But, they "felt that a baby with such a unique story like our own needed more of a unique name,” shared Ariela before adding why they chose Aviel. “It is a Hebrew name and because of the meaning is 'God is my father,' and we both liked that,” declared Ariela. The 90 Day Fiancé duo has supposedly also gone ahead with the nickname “Avi” instead of the earlier The Lion King inspired moniker.

According to Names.Org, Aviel is the “12,393rd most popular name of all time,” which on the contrary, makes it extra unique. The page also states that from 1880 to 2018, only 794 baby boys with the first name Aviel have been born in the United States, and the oldest recorded birth with the name is from 11 December 1902. However, Aviel did become a popular choice for a first name in 2018, when it was given to a total of 64 babies.

With Biniyam and Ariela both being such distinctive names, anything less creative than the 90 Day Fiancé pair shouldn’t have been expected. Meanwhile, congratulatory messages have been pouring in on both the parents’ Instagram profiles, as fans are still left with one nagging question. Ariela’s interview photos do not feature Biniyam, and his pictures show a much younger Aviel. Does it mean that the 90 Day Fiancé couple is currently pursuing a long-distance relationship with Ariela back in Princeton, New Jersey, with the baby?
