Angela Deem's 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? plotline has quickly shifted from relationship issues to cosmetic procedures, which has caused many viewers to be turned off from her storyline. Though she is a polarizing figure in the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, some fans are fond of Angela’s crass humor and are interested to see where her relationship with Michael goes. With Michael still in Nigeria awaiting his U.S. visa approval, however, Angela’s storyline has quickly been filled with nothing more than her plastic surgery ventures.

Though Michael wanted his wife to use her money for fertility treatments so that he could have a child with the older American, Angela has been pursuing weight loss surgeries regardless of the health risks. The grandmother refused to stop smoking before her weight loss and breast reduction surgeries but she luckily survived them. Angela is now pursuing other elective procedures to reduce her sagging skin in an attempt to revamp her appearance. Her choice to undergo extensive appearance-altering procedures is affecting her relationship with Michael. Though Angela has cited health as her main motivation to have the surgeries, many viewers don’t believe the grandmother since she refuses to stop smoking.

One user took to Reddit to voice that they are sick of seeing the 90 Day Fiancé franchise feature plastic surgery storylines when the show's premise revolves around international romance. “TLC: Please stop with the plastic surgery storylines,” the user titled their post. “First Larissa and now Angela... If I wanted to watch Botched, I would. Their storylines have little to nothing to do with adjusting in a foreign country/K-1 visa. ESPECIALLY Angela. If she wasn't FaceTiming Michael every other episode there would be NOTHING to do with the subject matter of the show,” the user concluded in their rant. Other viewers have been voicing the same complaints about the direction of the show, as well as Angela’s storyline. Her time on TV has been filled with trips to the doctors and only brief FaceTime calls with her husband.

Between the single life, foody calls, and whatever the hell Angela’s got going on, I don’t think TLC cares anymore about the premise of the show,” one top comment on the post reads. Many users agreed that the show moved away from featuring authentic love stories to focusing on dramatic relationships with potentially fabricated plotlines. “I think they should stop following these people after they get married. I don't think anything was really worth following after they got married. Their storylines just seem more fabricated and it's the same drama being recycled over again,” another user wrote as they echoed concerns many fans have voiced about the Happily Ever After cast. “100% agree. TLC needs to stick to the premise if the show and cut down on the spinoffs too,” another commenter wrote about the original post.

Many viewers have called for TLC to return to its original premise for 90 Day Fiancé content and feature either authentic relationships or new couples altogether. Viewers worry that franchise villain Big Ed might have secured his own spin-off show amid a call to cancel him, while the heavily disliked Potthast family has been accused of trying to become the next The Family Chantel. While critics have been voicing their rising concerns, TLC and Discovery+ appear to be leaning into drama for90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? and their other spin-off shows.
