Now that Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi are married on 90 Day Fiancé, their next dream is to have a baby of their own. Since Angela’s fertility issues have always been a problem, the couple discusses getting an egg from her daughter Skyla Deem. But as Skyla continues to disagree, the conversation veers towards Michael wanting a child to secure his American citizenship. Andrei Castravet asks if Michael is looking to have an “anchor baby” and Angela agrees. However, 90 Day Fiancé fans are calling Angela out for using the derogatory remark against her Nigerian husband.

90 Day Fiancé first heard the phrase “tote a baby” when Georgia’s Angela used it on the show. On seeing a fertility specialist, Angela, 54, had found out that she had only one egg left, making her and 33-year-old Michael’s wish of having a baby difficult. Angela’s next best option to have a baby using her bloodline was to ask Skyla to donate her egg or become a surrogate mother. Even back then, Skyla had outright refused to listen to her 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? star mom. In the latest episode, Shaun Robinson asked the newlyweds again about their future family, since Angela wasn’t agreeable to Michael marrying another woman for a child as per his customs. The conversation began with the TLC pair discussing their available options but soon enough, Angela was shown asking, “What is the big deal? Does Michael want it so he’ll have an American citizen, you know, and Nigerian?

Angela’s 90 Day Fiancé castmate Andrei questioned, “Like you think that he’s gonna do it for the green card stuff?” Angela quickly replied, “I don’t damn know,” and a visibly hurt Michael commented, “don’t say that.” Shaun asked Angela if she thinks that Michael married her just to have “a baby born in America” that would facilitate his citizenship process. And Angela confessed, “It does make me wonder, because who pushes that hard?” before making a double entendre about pushing. Michael’s Aunt Lydia who joined the Tell-All confirmed that he indeed was being pressurized by his family and shared that being an African man, he was required to have a child, even if it were by IVF or surrogacy. But Angela suggested that it would be an expensive affair, to which Michael suggested working his “a*s off.”  Colt Johnson pointed out that it was Angela who was “flip-flopping” with her either wanting to give Michael a child or not. However, 90 Day Fiancé fans still couldn’t digest Angela’s accusations of Michael using the baby as an excuse for a green card.

I love how Angela was all 'Team Baby' and now she’s all 'Michael wants an anchor baby,'" observed a Twitter user. Another 90 Day Fiancé viewer commented, “Angela knew that kids were important to Michael a long time ago. To say now that he's trying to get an anchor baby is just really disrespectful.” A different user supported Michael in the situation by adding, “If Michael wanted an anchor baby for leverage to get to the States he would have picked a fertile woman. That makes no sense to say he’s using Angela for that.” Certain fans mentioned how when Michael chose to marry a woman twice his age, he knew what he was getting into, and that’s why Angela shouldn’t be doubting his innocent intentions.

Still, since Michael knows about Angela’s health issues, he should have pushed the baby topic under the rug promptly. If being a father is still the 90 Day Fiancé star’s top priority, the couple will have to meet halfway and take a decision that benefits them in the long-run. For now, Angela and Michael are separated due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. But when things do start looking better for the world, the crucial part will be to know if the 90 Day Fiancé couple continues to fight over staring a family or entirely calls it quits.
