Scandalous 90 Day Fiancé star Angela Deem made fans uncomfortable and angry with her treatment of Michael Ilesanmi in episode 9 of Happily Ever After, but she still has support from some of the fans. Weight loss was on Angela’s mind for the longest time, and she did get surgery in order to shed 100 pounds, but her attitude has stayed the same. TLC viewers saw a repeat performance of Angela yelling and mocking Michael yet again, this time for apparently not checking up on her and being the trigger of her smoking. But after countless seasons of watching Angela being abusive and contemplating divorce with Michael on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, some fans are wondering if it’s just her being tough due to a troubled past.
While Michael has been objecting to Angela’s surgery since the start, it did appear that he was never in love with the 90 Day Fiancé star, but was more obsessed with certain things about her. Even during his confessional on the premiere episode of HEA, Michael mentioned how divorce was a possibility in case Angela didn’t give him a child. But baby plans were already out of the window for Angela who now wants to spend time with her new, skinnier body. At first, the fans seemed to agree that Michael’s demands on 90 Day Fiancé were unreasonable, but this Sunday’s episode changed a lot of things.
A 90 Day Fiancé fan started a Reddit thread (included below) and brought up a different perspective about Angela Deem, who they think is not a saint, but who is not a victim either. According to their observations, Angela is judged more severely than her co-stars for not putting any effort into her appearance, “aside from the surgery stuff.” The fan called Angela one of the strongest women on 90 Day Fiancé who’s not “a meek victim” and who’d never be caught getting disrespected by men such as Ronald, Andrei, and Jovi. The fan used Yara Zaya as an example, who Jovi thinks “is way beneath him.” While the TLC viewers agreed that Angela is not perfect, they love how tough the meemaw is.
“I think she was probably in an abusive relationship before, or maybe grew up seeing one, and isn’t going to even let there be a chance of that for a flat second,” the 90 Day Fiancé viewer added in their conclusion. Still, in the comments, other fans do not seem to agree with Angela being strong, adding that she’s instead “loud” and “a bully.” One fan notes that Angela has a pattern of using, “Verbal abuse, physical abuse, psychological abuse, cultural abuse, and financial abuse,” as seen on 90 Day Fiancé cameras several times.
With Angela spewing the choicest of insults and taunts at Michael, from accusing him of being after a visa to lying about his penis, 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? was hard to watch for many fans. Angela’s aggressive interactions led fans to call her the “most offensive person in the cast history” and wanting to get her canceled by TLC. However, Angela’s double standards of treating 90 Day Fiancé husband Michael badly and then calling him shady are also starting conversations about her possibly divorcing him in eventually to get featured in a new 90 Day: The Single Life season like Natalie.
