If 90 Day Fiancé star Angela Deem’s weight loss is keeping TLC viewers curious, it’s also her age that seems to be confusing many. While risking her life by disobeying doctors right before her surgery, Angela’s age also posed a threat as she went in for five operations in a day to lose weight. Angela’s husband, Michael Ilesanmi, was the first to object to her drastic 100-pound weight loss decision, followed by co-stars such as Larissa Lima. But warnings fell on deaf ears for 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? cast member Angela, who wanted to appear 20 years younger to complement her young Oko mi better.
Although Angela and Michael’s large age gap is what has caused most problems in their long-distance relationship, a few 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? fans on Reddit were still shocked to know how old she actually is. Since returning to the United States after the 90 Day Fiancé star's January 2020 wedding in Nigeria, Angela realized how her growing weight was taking a toll on her health. Not only was Angela getting out of breath, but a scene in the first episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? also showed her struggling to get up after falling to the ground. That’s when Angela spoke of getting a gastric sleeve surgery so she could spend more years with her six grandkids and, of course, Michael. But Angela ended up being under anesthesia for four hours as doctors performed not one but five total surgeries on her in one day.
TLC further played with fans’ feelings by showing a scene with Angela not waking up from her anesthesia as a cliffhanger for episode five. Many wondered if it was the 90 Day Fiancé star’s smoking right before her surgery or her age that made her fall prey to a near-death experience. However, Angela has been doing just fine, as her recent Instagram posts suggest, with the procedures of gastric sleeve, liposuction and breast reduction having knocked years off her face and figure. It was one of these Instagram posts on Angela’s popular profile where a Reddit fan noticed an update from the meemaw’s birthday in December 2020 when her grandbabies surprised her with a beautiful cake.
“Ok. How many years has Angela been ‘54’?” asked the Reddit user, referring to the age that’s displayed before Angela’s confessionals on 90 Day Fiancé. “Hasn’t she been 54 every season? And this was her most recent birthday,” wrote the curious fan. Another fan called Angela "unhealthy” as a different comment joked that she’s “74.” A top comment pointed out that “smoking does age you” before sarcastically adding, “For all we know, she can be 27 and have terrible smoking-related aging.”
The fact that Angela shockingly mentioned she has been smoking for 43 years on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? also made viewers curious if the Georgia resident smoked her first cigarette at the age of 11 if she’s currently 54. However, the photo shared by the fan earlier is from Angela’s 55th birthday. She was 52 when she made her debut on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 2 with Michael, who was then 30. Perhaps 90 Day Fiancé's Angela may have started smoking when she was a child. But to maintain the weight loss she’s had now, hopefully the 90 Day Fiancé star has let go of her vices.
