Season 5 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days has not only been confirmed by TLC, but the new cast of the 90 Day Fiancé spin-off show has also been revealed. Season 5 will feature seven brand new couples, with only Usman "Sojaboy" Umar returning to the franchise with a new partner. One of the new couples to enter the 90 Day Fiancé franchise is Ella and Johnny, an American and Chinese couple who will debut on Before The 90 Days season 5.

90 Day Fiancé franchise fans have voiced their disappointment with the past few seasons of franchise content. Many viewers have expressed frustration, boredom, and even anger over TLC's choice to cast so many returning couples. This decision has led to drama feeling stale and even faked for viewers, as many have accused the recent spin-off shows of feeling scripted. The current season of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way is being poorly received by viewers, as it only features two new couples. Meanwhile, the recent confirmation of the 90 Day: The Single Life season 2 cast has similarly angered fans, as it will see several franchise villains such as Natalie Mordovtseva, Big Ed Brown, and Jesse Meester returning.

Ella and Johnny can be seen in the teaser clip for the new season shared to the @90dayfiance YouTube. EW lists Ella as a 29-year-old from Idaho Falls, Idaho. Meanwhile, Johnny is a 34-year-old man from Jinan, China. Johnny’s casting marks the first cast member to be from China, which fits Ella’s desires in a partner. She is described as having an “obsession” with Asian culture and considers Johnny to be her “Asian prince.” Such a description might remind some viewers of The Other Way personality Deavan Clegg, as American Deavan has an obsession with Korean men and Korean culture. Ella and Johnny are shown to have a fun side, as Ella dressed up in a blonde wig for a call with Johnny in the teaser.

90 Day Fiancé's Ella Johnson

Ella met Johnny on a social media site that allows white women to connect with Asian men. The couple then bonded over video calls and quickly fell in love before the pandemic interfered with their plans to meet up in person. The couple’s storyline will pick up after a year and a half of being kept apart with Johnny visiting Ella in Idaho to get engaged. Ella’s main concern, which is highlighted in the Before The 90 Days YouTube season teaser, is that her weight issues will alienate her from Johnny due to her past experiences with romantic partners. Johnny’s mother can be seen in the clip asking her son about Ella’s figure with the line, “Does she eat much?” to which Johnny replied, “Well, it’s America. They eat desserts.”

90 Day Fiancé franchise fans have demanded authentic partners with real romantic connections, and Ella and Johnny might just be the answer for frustrated viewers. Ella and Johnny are very eager to meet in person and discover if their online love will allow them to overcome any obstacle. Though the pandemic has kept the couple apart and family issues might come to play, Ella and Johnny appear to be the real deal. The new season of 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days will allow the couple to finally meet in person and share their international love story.
