Here’s a detailed look at 90 Day Fiancé's most notorious cast members and the many crimes they were charged or convicted of.

While many fans claim that most of reality TV arrests or run-ins with the law are nothing but publicity stunts, some cases are real, and some 90 Day Fiancé stars have had to face the heat.  The TLC show introduces couples looking for love internationally. Through its various seasons and spin-offs, fans have witnessed jaw-dropping drama both onscreen and in real life. With a few partners coming to America on a dependant visa, their relationships turning sour often leads to deportation scares. Then, there are the cast members who already have shady backstories, which hawkeyed fans unearth once the 90 Day Fiancé couples become celebrities. More recently, TLC viewers have seen Larissa Lima and Jay Smith coming under ICE’s radar, while Geoffrey Paschel has been accused of allegedly raping and abusing his exes. But it’s not just them; there are several other 90 Day Fiancé personalities and their loved ones who’ve dealt with charges or convictions.

Paul Staehle

90 Day Fiancé star Paul Staehle

The skeletons in Paul’s closet affected his relationship with Brazilian wife Karine in 90 Day Fiancé. He was charged with "burning personal property to defraud insurer" in 2014, stemming from a 2007 incident. After a brief prison sentence, Paul’s probation ended in April this year. Reports also indicate Paul was arrested and charged with violation of a Kentucky EPO (Emergency Protective Order)/DVO (Domestic Violence Order) after sending text messages to his ex in 2013. More recently, Paul and Karine accused one another of assault and abuse, and claimed to have protective orders against each other, only to drop them soon after.

Geoffrey Paschel

Geoffrey Paschel from 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days close up

This controversial TLC celeb admitted to being sentenced to 30 months in prison after he was arrested on drug possession charges at a young age. As reports suggest, Geoffrey was also arrested in June 2019 after a domestic violence incident with his former girlfriend. He was then charged with domestic assault, interference with emergency calls, vandalism, and aggravated kidnapping. But the 90 Day Fiancé star claimed the woman lied and pleaded not guilty. Geoffrey's court date has been moved to December due to COVID-19, so he still waits to tell his side of the story. If the internet is to be believed, Geoffrey has been married four times and at least two of his ex-wives have pressed domestic violence charges against him.

Larissa Lima

Larissa continues to be the poster child for controversies on 90 Day Fiancé to date. The star, who was recently fired by TLC, was first arrested for domestic violence in June 2018, five days before her wedding with Colt Johnson. She was later arrested in November, although the charges in both cases were dropped. The Brazilian star was arrested for a third time in January 2019 and charged with domestic battery. The charges were later reduced to disorderly conduct after she paid a $345 fine, served 48 hours of community service, and attended domestic violence counseling. Her immigration status wasn’t affected then, but Larissa was detained and released by ICE in September after being “placed in removal proceedings.”

Jorge Nava

Jorge Nava's weight loss post prison on 90 Day Fiancé

At the time of his arrest in February 2019, 90 Day Fiancé alum Jorge Nava was found with 293 lbs. of high-grade marijuana in the trunk of his car in Arizona. Anfisa’s ex-husband spent two days in jail and was released at a $25,000 bail, but in September was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison. Jorge’s reduced sentence came after his lawyer was able to reduce his class two felony to a class four. The TLC star was released in May this year, but only after he’d lost both Anfisa and 128 pounds.

Darcey & Stacey Silva

Darcey Silva and Stacey Silva on 90 Day Fiancé

The Silva twins may star on their own 90 Day Fiancé spin-off now, but Darcey and Stacey also have a rough history with the law. In February 2018, the Darcey & Stacey sisters got into a fight, after which authorities were summoned to their Connecticut house. The twins were apparently pushing and pulling each other around the house during the argument. The physical altercation did earn the reality TV icons a citation, but they were never handcuffed or jailed and the case was eventually dismissed, as per Stacey. She added that the incident brought her and Darcey closer together. But she also didn't forget to mention that the reason behind this major argument between them was Darcey's ex-boyfriend Jesse Meester.

Scottie Deem

Angela Deem 90 Day Fiancé

Angela Deem’s rich reality TV history includes an appearance on Maury with daughter Scottie before 90 Day Fiancé. While Scottie was then dealing with baby-daddy drama, she received three 20-year prison sentences to be served concurrently after pleading guilty to three counts of child molestation in early 2019. However, Scottie served only 15 months behind bars and was released on parole in May this year.

Lisa Hamme

Lisa Hamme Usman Umar 90 Day Fiance-

Before meeting her now-ex-husband Usman “Sojaboy” Umar, Babygirl Lisa Hamme had an even more problematic past. In 2015, Lisa was arrested for stalking while still being married to former husband James. The 90 Day Fiancé star was charged with harassment, specifically, a Title 18 Chapter 27 Section 2709 offense, which is when a person “strikes, shoves, kicks,” has “physical contact,” or threatens with the intent to “harass, annoy, or alarm” someone, reports SoapDirt. Lisa pled guilty in court and was ordered to pay a fine, but Starcasm also talks about an intense car chase Lisa was involved in with James. In August 2016, the man chased Lisa and crashed his Pontiac Grand Prix into a lamppost, leading to him getting arrested and charged with two counts of attempted simple assault, making terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, and harassment. While Babygirl Lisa was the victim in this case, she was also recently accused of offering a bounty for personal information, stalking, and cyber harassing a woman who Sojaboy Usman was apparently romantically involved with.

Jay Smith

90 Day Fiance Ashley Martson and Jay Smith

Ashley Martson just announced her official split with Jamaican ex Jay Smith, but she also recently claimed that he has been spying on her using her home security cameras. In July 2019, Ashley reported Jay for a PFA violation after he had allegedly broken into her property. This came after Jay posted on Instagram that he would expose Ashley’s dirty secrets and the PFA couldn’t stop him. Ashley saw the post and called the police instantly, who picked him up “without incident,” writes SoapDirt. Jay faced deportation after he was taken into ICE custody, but was later bailed out by his tattoo parlor boss to the tune of $4500.

Ronald Smith

Ronald Smith: TLC: 90 Day Fiancé

Star of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Ronald's gambling addiction was a concern during his stint on the reality show. But when Tiffany was shown visiting an immigration lawyer on an episode to speak about Ronald’s possible arrival in America, viewers uncovered multiple charges on his record, including an armed robbery offense, a charge for stolen money, and a drug charge stemming from a traffic stop. However, none of these led to Ronald’s conviction.

Danielle Jbali

One half of the OG controversial couple of 90 Day Fiancé, Danielle had a murky past prior to ex Mohamed accusing her of creating his fake account and using his credit card. According to InTouch, Danielle’s arrest record includes six criminal charges, money theft, and forgery. Danielle herself disclosed that she used “someone’s credit card and it was a mistake.” However, she also admitted to being “charged with [four] or [five] felonies.” The TLC star further confessed on her Facebook, “This happened in 2005 and I regret it and I paid my restitution, courts costs, and served probation.”

Tim Clarkson

Apart from cheating on his Colombian girlfriend Melyza, who returned the favor by cheating on him, 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’s Tim Clarkson confessed to being arrested at the age of 24. The Texas native reportedly spent 28 days in jail and got three years of probation for breaking and entering vehicles. Apart from this, Tim was also arrested for a DUI in January 2015 for having a BAC (blood alcohol concentration) more than .08. He was taken into custody and released hours later after detainment. Tim eventually pleaded not guilty at his arraignment, but entered a guilty plea in April in exchange for a fine and a 48-hour Drunk Driving School certificate program at Kirkwood Community College.

Jon Walters

Jon Walters: TLC: 90 Day Fiancé

Jon from season two of 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days, came clean to Rachel Bear about his troubled past. Jon had gotten into 50-60 physical fights in his youth, five of which led to convictions. The 90 Day Fiancé alum’s most serious conviction came after he punched a few guys who were being disrespectful to women during his uni days. “They arrested me and I was convicted of bodily harm without intent – which basically means, he did sustain an injury,” Jon revealed, as per InTouch. Jon’s victim suffered an eye injury, and Jon was kicked out of school, although he pleaded guilty and never went to prison.

Josh Batterson

90 Day Fiancé season five alum Josh may be living his happily ever after with third wife Aika now, but in 2010 he was reportedly arrested for domestic violence after allegedly punching his ex-wife Mel in the face. Starcasm reports Josh was also arrested for a DUI in 2007 and later ran into some financial issues with Capital One in 2014. But since then, Josh resolved this issue and paid off what he was required to by 2016.

Molly Hopkins

Molly Hopkins: TLC: 90 Day Fiancé

Molly Hopkins and Luis Mendez are infamous for getting divorced within six months of their 90 Day Fiancé marriage. Radar revealed that in January 2018, Molly was arrested for “unlawfully and knowingly” possessing and having under her control less than one ounce of marijuana. She was sentenced to 12 months in a correctional institute, but spent only one day in jail and the rest on probation for 40 hours of community service, a $300 fine, and a Risk Reduction Program. In May 2012, Molly was arrested and charged with four counts of driving under the influence and pled guilty to the “DUI alcohol less safe count.” After getting sentenced to another 12 months in jail, the 90 Day Fiancé star served one day, got the rest on probation, and paid a fine of $500. In June 2016, Molly was apparently arrested again, charged with two counts of DUI and one count of speeding, and held on a $4012 bond. Molly pled guilty yet again and was sentenced to 24 months in jail, which she served on probation that was terminated in May 2018.

Jihoon Lee

Jihoon Deavan Drascilla Abuse: TLC: 90 Day Fiancé

Deavan Clegg’s biggest worry during 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season one was whether Jihoon would be able to provide for the family after quitting his job. But Jihoon’s résumé back in South Korea was far more sketchy, as he later revealed. Jihoon said he had $30,000 in debt from doing an “illegal thing” where he used to sell phones that were actually stolen. The police fined Jihoon $15,000, which he paid off by taking a loan that, with added interest, doubled over time. Although Deavan thought that was the extent of Jihoon’s lying, his criminal past also involved something about him selling the “lost” phones in China. Jihoon claimed he wasn't doing it anymore from the fear of going to jail, but Deavan, who has now accused him of child abuse, called his phone dealings an “international crime.”

Jason Hitch

One of the older members of the 90 Day Fiancé clan, season two’s Jason Hitch was arrested for domestic battery against wife Cassia Tavares in January 2017. Although Jason was transported to Hernando County Jail after Cassia, aka Rita’s, 911 call, she did drop the charges against her husband the very next day. However, the 90 Day Fiancé couple got divorced soon enough in October 2018.

The Potthast Family

Elizabeth Potthast’s family had reservations about Andrei Castravet’s mysterious past. But while the 90 Day Fiancé star’s big secret was that he worked as a detective in Moldova before fleeing to Ireland to avoid unethical activities, his in-laws were much shadier. Andrei’s father-in-law Chuck was arrested in 2009 for unpaid child support, while three of Libby’s siblings were arrested for driving with revoked licenses. Another of Libby’s brothers was charged with possession of fewer than 20 ounces of an illegal substance, as well as drug paraphernalia. Charlie was also arrested and charged with possession of an illegal substance. As reported earlier, the Potthast family’s Florida business also came under fire because of allegations of shady landlord tactics and other alleged sketchy scams.

Syngin Colchester

Syngin Colchester Tania Maduro: TLC: 90 Day Fiancé

The South African reality star Syngin Colchester was pulled over in July 2019 in Connecticut for not wearing a seatbelt. As he was stopped, the officer also apparently found marijuana in his possession. Since Tania Maduro’s husband only had less than half an ounce of the substance on him, he was fined $150 and asked to make an appearance in court in November 2019. Syngin pleaded “not guilty” to the charges, but fans suspect this might affect the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? star’s chances of staying in the U.S. anyway.
