Explosive newcomers Kobe and Emily will be joining the 90 Day Fiancé franchise on April 17 when season 9 premieres on TLC. While the season trailer revealed that all seven featured couples will have problems to overcome, new parents Kobe and Emily appear to be a particularly messy couple. Find out what 90 Day Fiancé franchise fans should know about Emily and Kobe before season 9 premieres.

90 Day Fiancé franchise fans are well-versed in international dating drama, including the strain waiting for a visa approval can have on a relationship. Newcomers Emily and Kobe are one duo who have faced a lengthy separation while the African native waited for his US visa. However, the other six couples who will join the cast of season 9 also have issues. With the exception of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way couple Ariela Weinberg and Biniyam Shibre, the season will feature all-new couples for plenty of fresh yet familiar drama and 90 Day Fiancé relationship milestones and obstacles.

Entertainment Weekly lists Kobe as a 34-year-old from Cameroon and Emily as a 29-year-old from Salina, Kansas. Emily met Kobe when she moved to Xi’an, China, to teach English while she was out clubbing one night. The duo had a one-night stand that evolved into an engagement and pregnancy in two short weeks. The couple was rocked with a harsh reality when Emily returned to Kansas, and the pandemic delayed Kobe’s visa for two years. Emily has been raising the couple’s son solo since then, and Kobe is eager to finally meet his child. Though Kobe and Emily are eager to reunite, they will be rocked with many difficulties when they are finally together again.

The @90dayfiance Instagram account shared a trailer for 90 Day Fiancé season 9 that painted Emily and Kobe as one couple who will deal with a lot of serious drama. “She’s changed, she’s gained weight, but it’s not about how she looks,” Kobe says upon meeting Emily at the airport, which seems to set their reunion off to a bad start. What appears to be Emily’s father warns her about not getting pregnant before the trailer cuts to Emily and Kobe buying a pregnancy test. “I can’t even believe we are doing a pregnancy test right now,” Emily says before the editing alludes to upsetting news. Therefore, the duo might be in for two children under the age of two.

Emily and Kobe will have to deal with many challenges on 90 Day Fiancé, including a potential second unplanned pregnancy, physical changes, and a major move. The couple has been separated for a considerable amount of time and might not feel the same attraction to each other that initially brought them together. On the other hand, Kobe and Emily could be feeling too much attraction, which is evident by their pregnancy scare. Overall, the newcomers are expected to bring plenty of drama.
