Steven Johnston from 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way acting inappropriately with her mom, Anna, made his Russian girlfriend, Alina, livid. Devout Mormon Steven expects his future wife to adhere to his faith, which she is doing successfully. Steven, on the other hand, has raised several red flags by cherry-picking from the faith and not really respecting his religion. Moreover, Steven admitted that he’s not a virgin and that he’s made out with over 100 girls. So when Steven tried to convert Anna, Alina lashed out at the 90 Day Fiancé star for being a hypocrite.
Alina is a virgin who respects the rules of the Mormon Church and made a pact with Steven to stay untouched and pure for each other until they get married. To ensure that worked, Steven booked different apartments for him and Alina in Turkey to stay in for 90 days. However, Alina suspected Steven was just doing this so he could call over other girls to date. Her suspicions turned out to be true when Steven admitted that he cheated on her while they were in a relationship and continuously kept meeting other women since he thought they weren’t exclusive. Alina felt saddened at the fact that Steven had fallen short of the standards of the LDS Church when she was okay with sacrificing her family, career and also wine for him.
But according to a preview clip for 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way episode 8, as shared by ET, Alina was frustrated with Steven’s hypocrisy and lashed out at him in public when he tried to convert her mom to Mormonism. After Steven’s big secret reveal, Alina’s mom visited the couple in Antalya and declared that the American man’s habits alarmed her. The video showed the couple taking Anna out for a meal, and Steven revealed that he wanted the whole world to join the Church, especially Alina and her mom since they’re going to become his family. “I am already disciplined in Orthodox beliefs. At the moment, I don’t see reasons to change it,” said Anna.
Steven tried to convince convince future mother-in-law Anna by talking about his and Alina’s future kids and how her not converting would cause problems in their relationship. “You’ll be a grandmother. And I think faith is an important matter when raising children,” declared an enthusiastic Steven. A furious Alina looked on and told the 90 Day Fiancé cameras that she couldn't believe Steven was trying to convert her mother. “I think it’s not appropriate especially because we have been fighting,” Alina explained. The Novosibirsk resident didn't like that Steven was “pushing it” on her mom. And when he said that he respects people’s right to choose, she sharply asked him, “Like which commandments to follow?” Clearly, Alina is so tired of Steven being hypocritical that she taunted him with, “Yes, I can't even drink coffee, but Steven can break the commandment of chastity."
Alina accepted that she can’t take any more of Steven’s lies. The fact that he tried to get her mom to do something that even he can’t follow irked Alina to no end. Fans have been loving Alina being sassy with Steven, especially the mic-drop moment she had during the wine scene. However, Alina is still together with Steven, as several clues indicate. She’s also currently studying at BYU sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While Alina calling out Steven’s hypocrisy is fair, she too has let 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way fans down by choosing to be with this man.
