6 Underground is Netflix’s brand new release, and in the build-up to its release, it was revealed what the cast wants to see in a potential sequel. The film starring Ryan Reynolds marks the return of director Michael Bay, who has not come out with a movie since his last robot fest, Transformers: The Last Knight. In his new action-thriller, Bay moves back to focusing on real people as opposed to robots, but as the marketing, “the science,” and Reynolds have proven, this is still full and utter “Bayhem.”

6 Underground, which Reynolds jokingly called the "Snyder Cut” at CCXP in Brazil, tells the story of six individuals, with a specific set of skills who are taken off the grid and presumed dead. Secretly, they set out to change their pasts and future. Not only is this classic Bay in terms story and the large, in your face action scenes, Netflix has also not held back with the money they were willing to fork out on 6 Underground. With a reported $150 million budget, the streaming service seems to have high expectations this Reynolds-Bay combination will bring in a large audience. Perhaps, they even see a sequel in the future.

In an interview with Screen Rant, the cast of 6 Underground discussed a possible sequel to the film and where they’d like to see their characters go. Melanie Laurent, who plays Two, hopes a sequel becomes a reality. “We just fell in love like to each other and that was really, really special,” Laurent said. According to Corey Hawkins (Seven), a sequel “literally can go anywhere,” and he would like to see “what other like locations” they can go to as they traveled so much for this film. Laurent added, “Italy was like a dream.” And Hawkins explained how beautiful traveling through Florence, Siena, and Rome was, but that they were also “blowing stuff up and having people run down the top of the Duomo - people actually did that and it’s never been done before.”

Ryan Reynolds in 6 Underground

When the question came Reynolds' way, he responded with what sort of approach the film could potentially take for a sequel: “6 Underground 2? I don’t know, I think it’d be fun to just get some sort of Thomas Crowne vibes in there, like an old-school kind of heist. Like Eastern Europe kind of heist movie.”

It will be interesting to see what type of audience 6 Underground draws on Netflix, and whether or not this will be the start of another film series for Bay after having just left the Transformers franchise. Netflix typically looks at viewer numbers for the entire month after a project's release before green lighting a sequel, so any news of a 6 Underground 2 is a ways off yet. Still, the company is no doubt hoping 6 Underground is success after investing $150 million into it, a figure that is almost on par with blockbusters like Captain Marvel  and Spider-Man: Far From Home. Fans hoping for 6 Underground sequel will just have to wait and see what Netflix decides.
