4 New Watchmen Featurettes

We’re now in the final stretch of our long wait for the release of Watchmen on the big screen. To help quell your eagerness and anticipation, we have four brand new featurettes for your viewing pleasure.

The featurettes (or episodes of Watching the Watchmen) present interviews with the six actors who play the members of the Watchmen crime-fighting team - as well as Director Zack Snyder and Watchmen artist Dave Gibbons.

Episode 1: Dr. Manhattan and Silk Spectre

The first of the four videos features Malin Ackerman and Billy Crudup who play Silk Spectre and Dr. Manhattan. Billy Crudup talks about the process of digitally masking his face to play the CGIed blue being that is Dr. Manhattan. In addition to the interviews, we get a glimpse of scenes of the original Minutemen team.

Episode 2: Nite Owl II and Rorshach

The second featurette spends time with my two favorite characters from the graphic novel, Nite Owl II/Dan Dreiberg and Rorschach/Walter Kovacs as they discuss how much attention to detail was spent translating the pieces of the world from the graphic novel to real life as well as how thought-provoking the story is. The interviews demonstrate how Patrick Wilson and Jackie Earle Haley really are the perfect actors for these roles.

Episode 3: The Comedian and Ozymandias

The third video of Watching the Watchmen lets us see Mathew Goode and Jeffrey Dean Morgan speaking of their own characters Ozymandias/Adrian Veidt and The Comedian/Edward Blake respectively intertwined with clips from the movie. Both actors speak well and have intelligent things to say about the characters they play.

Episode 4: Zack Snyder and Dave Gibbons

The last of the four featurettes focuses on visionary director Zack Snyder and original Watchmen artist, Dave Gibbons. Gibbons has a lot to say about Zack Snyder adapting the book as best as possible and Snyder spends some time praising the actors and describing why this superhero story stands out above all others.

These interviews really let us see how perfect the casting decisions were and how each of them can bring so much to their individual characters. Combined with Zack Snyder as director, I can’t think of this movie being done any better. I just hope that Zack’s alternate ending for the story is worthy.

We’re now in the final stretch with the movie only a week away. Will you be there to see this on opening weekend?
