Actor Kristen Johnston took to Twitter to post a photo of the reunited 3rd Rock from the Sun cast. The reunion arrives on the occasion of the sitcom’s 25th anniversary. Created by Bonnie and Terry Turner, 3rd Rock from the Sun aired on NBC from 1996 to 2001. The show follows a unit of aliens on an expedition to Earth, where they assume human forms and pose as a family in Ohio. Over the course of the series, the Solomons become more adjusted to the baffling behavior of human beings.

John Lithgow, already a venerated film and stage actor by the mid-nineties, stars as Dick Solomon, leader of the expedition who’s employed as a physics professor at the local college. Kristen Johnston portrays Sally, a combat specialist and military tactician who, upon arriving on Earth, is miffed over her disguise as a human woman. Tommy, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, must occupy the body of a teenager even though he is an information officer and the oldest member of the group. Finally, French Stewart plays lovable bonehead Harry.

The 3rd Rock from the Sun actors reunited as part of Vulture Fest, where they sat down for a panel discussion about their time on the beloved show. While only the four members of the Solomon family appear in Johnston’s photo, other cast members showed up to celebrate the anniversary, including Wayne Knight and Jane Curtin, the latter of whom joined via Zoom.

All four members of the extraterrestrial clan have gone on to enjoy successful careers following the 3rd Rock from the Sun wrap in 2001. Lithgow appeared in many more films and was also cast in memorable roles on The Crown and Dexter, where he’ll be reprising his role as the Trinity Killer as part of the rebooted limited series. Stewart and Johnston both appeared on CBS’ Mom. The end of 3rd Rock from the Sun saw Gordon-Levitt’s transformation from child actor to his taking on heavier roles, ultimately working with filmmakers like Aaron Sorkin, Christopher Nolan, and Oliver Stone. For those clamoring for a proper 3rd Rock from the Sun reunion, Johnston’s photo may have to suffice. While celebrating the series’ anniversary, Wayne Knight resignedly joked that “society’s gotten too bizarre. You couldn’t satirize it today.”
