Universal Pictures unveils a new trailer for The 355 highlighting the action-thriller's explosive sequences and female-fronted cast. The film revolves around CIA agent Mason "Mace" Brown as she travels the globe putting together a team of elite agents from international organizations including rival German BND agent Marie, former MI6 ally Khadijah and skilled Colombian psychologist Graciela. The cast for The 355 is led by Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong'o, Diane Kruger, Penélope Cruz and Bingbing Fan alongside Sebastian Stan and Édgar Ramirez.

Development on The 355 first got underway in 2017 when Chastain brought the concept to Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg, who would later sign on to direct, produce and co-write the film while Chastain would star and produce. The cast would soon begin building with Marion Cotillard, Cruz, Fan and Nyongo'o and Universal acquiring the rights shortly thereafter, though Cotillard would later drop out and Kruger would be brought on in her place. Though filming would get underway in July 2019, the release would be hampered by numerous delays due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The new trailer for the action-thriller plays out primarily the same to the first trailer for The 355, though there are a few notable differences that are sure to catch audiences' eyes. First and foremost is more footage featured of Sebastian Stan's Nick, a CIA agent and colleague to Chastain's Mace, though the new video seems to point towards his working against the titular group in some capacity, whether it simply being the CIA attempting to put a stop to Mace's trail of chaos or his involvement in the terrorist actions taking place. Additionally, the trailer gives a better indication of the alliances of Fan's Lin Mi Sheng, painting her as a Chinese intelligence agent aiding the team rather than hindering them as hinted at in the first trailer.

The 355 certainly comes at a time in which audiences are hungry for more female-fronted stories in all genres, including action following the successes of Atomic BlondeBlack Widow and Birds of Prey. Audiences are sure to be a little hesitant going into the film with Kinberg at the helm, understandable following his critically panned debut Dark Phoenix, though with it being his first original property in a decade, one can hope the lack of franchise restraints will allow Kinberg a second chance at directorial success. Only time will tell when The 355 hits theaters on January 7, 2022.
