A recently released photo offers a new look at Jessica Chastain's character, Mason Brown, in The 355. The movie from Universal Pictures is an exciting upcoming entry in the spy genre. Following films like Ocean's 8, it features many of Hollywood's top actors in a female-led adventure. Chastain's Mason (or "Mace") is a CIA agent who joins forces with spies around the world to recover a secret weapon. Black Panther star Lupita Nyong'o will play former M16 ally Khadijah, while Diane Kruger and Penélope Cruz play Marie and Graciela, respectively. Fan Bingbing, Sebastian Stan, and Édgar Ramírez have roles as well. In addition to starring, Chastain proposed the idea for The 355 and also produced the film.

Currently, The 355 is set to release January 15, 2021, though that could change depending on the coronavirus pandemic. In October, the movie's trailer came out, with some of the cast promoting the film soon after. For example, Stan took a moment to express his belief the women of The 355 could best his The Falcon and the Winter Soldier character Bucky Barnes if it came down to it. At New York Comic Con, Chastain explained the meaning behind the film's title, revealing it was the code name for the American Revolution's first female spy, though her real name remains unknown.

As The 355's planned release approaches, the new image from Total Film magazine (via GamesRadar) shows Chastain's character running with a gun in hand. She looks to be in a marina of some kind, where one of the movie's many action sequences may take place. Check out the image below:

Though the new photo doesn't reveal any new details about The 355, it does offer a great look at Chastain's Mace. The film's action components are one of the most exciting aspects of it. This image suggests The 355 won't skimp on chase scenes, a cornerstone of any spy movie. One perhaps disappointing part of the photo is Mace's wardrobe, especially her heels. Action movies have long been criticized for showing women running in impractical shoes, despite how unrealistic that is. Of course, without context, it's hard to complain about that too much. There may be a reasonable in-story explanation for Chastain's look in the image.

All told, The 355 is shaping up to be an exciting film. Though female-led movies are slowly becoming less of a rarity, it's still thrilling to see one with so many diverse women in key roles. Chastain's contribution behind-the-scenes is also a particularly noteworthy part of the film that should only improve its overall quality. The actor has shown herself to be a formidable force for change in Hollywood, and The 355 is indicative of that.
