The horrors of the Firefly family are far from over, as we can see in the 3 From Hell trailer for Rob Zombie's movie. More than 1- years after The Devil’s Rejects comes a sequel that will catch up with the surviving members of the fictional family of serial killers, the Fireflies.

Titled 3 From Hell, the film is a follow-up to Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects, and reunites some of Zombie’s recurring stars, such as Sheri Moon Zombie, Sid Haig, and Bill Moseley. The latter film saw the apparent demise of Captain Spaulding (Haig), Otis Driftwood (Moseley), and Baby (Zombie), as they are barricaded by policemen who shoot them multiple times. Well, evil never dies and the three of them are still very much alive and ready to continue their reign of horror.

After sharing the 3 From Hell teaser trailer last month, Rob Zombie has now revealed the full trailer for 3 From Hell, showing that the Firefly family can’t be contained. Plot details are still a mystery, but judging by the trailer, the main focus will be these characters’ escape from prison - and the subsequent chaos, of course. Also part of the cast are Danny Trejo and Dee Wallace, as well as frequent Zombie collaborators Richard Brake and Jeff Daniel Phillips.

Like the previous films, 3 From Hell has a retro, 70s-80s style, not only visually but also in terms of context. As seen in the trailer, the crimes of the Firefly family gathered a lot of media attention and a sort of cult following, with people campaigning for their release (hence the tag line “Free The Three”), very much like the Manson Family crimes in the 1970s. But unlike some real world events, Spaulding, Otis, and Baby seem to be pretty much invincible - we’ll see how things turn out for them this time.

Zombie’s career as filmmaker is short but has been very divisive. While some praise his vision and graphic style in films like House of 1000 Corpses, others gave up after his take on the Halloween franchise. His last film, 31, didn’t do well with most critics, with some praising its carnival theme among other very Zombie elements.

With The Devil’s Rejects considered by many as Zombie’s best work, and House of 1000 Corpses a fan-favorite, expectations for 3 From Hell are high, and with the crew planning a very limited release, it will surely attract a lot of fans. If the film proves to be as successful as its predecessor or even more, 3 From Hell will surely achieve immediate cult status.
