Fans desperate to see another day in the life of counter terrorist agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) must be frantic for the series to return with 24: Live Another Day. Season 9 of Fox's 24 will only be 12 episodes long, unlike the typical 24 episode seasons where each episode covered events as they happened in real time, one hour out of the day.
While this new format may seem limiting, it's actually proven the opposite as producer Howard Gordon explained they can now cover consecutive hours, "then skip 3 hours if we need to." This flexibility allows Live Another Day to tell a more concise story, and as you can see in the first full trailer (above), it hasn't stopped them from jam-packing episodes with intense, heart-stopping action.
This season takes place four years after the season 8 finale and finds Jack in London where he must stop "an unthinkable terrorist attack that could change the world forever.” Plenty of familiar faces are returning - Chloe O’Brien (Mary Lynn Rajskub), Audrey Raines (Kim Raver) James Heller (William Devane) - but new faces are joining in on the high-octane fun, too: Yvonne Strahovski (Dexter), Giles Matthey (Jobs), Gbenga Akinnagbe (The Wire), Michael Wincott (The Crow) and Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones).

24 has already cemented itself into television history, what with becoming the longest-running TV drama focusing on espionage and terrorism. In its later seasons, however, there was some criticism over the characterization of Jack Bauer, with some fans complaining he'd become too much of a superhero being tasked to save the whole world over and over.
Live Another Day promises a return to the more grounded, small-scale crises Jack faced in earlier seasons. But obviously, thwarting a terrorist plot in one of the world's largest cities is going to have global implications.
What are you expecting from 24: Live Another Day? Will Jack be able to save the day for a record ninth time? Sound off in the comments!
24: Live Another Day premieres on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 8pm EST on Fox.
