The Audi e-tron is a fascinating crossover that blends the German automaker's engineering traits with electric vehicle credentials. The e-tron, released in 2019, was marketed as Audi's first electric model. The e-tron highlights the manufacturer's efforts to electrify its vehicles as the race for dominance in the EV market heats up. In 2021, it was named the best-selling electric premium SUV in Europe. It's already been compared with the Tesla Model X and Volkswagen ID.4. Against the Model X, the e-tron attracts buyers with more exterior colors and compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It's also designed to look like an actual SUV, unlike the Model X. It pales in comparison to the Tesla in terms of range, seeing as how range is one of the best features any Tesla can offer.

In May this year, Audi revealed its vehicle electrification strategy following the steady increase in the demand for EVs. It hopes to build a portfolio of over 20 battery-electric models by 2025. Audi already has the e-tron, e-tron Sportback, e-tron S, Q4 e-tron, and a couple more in its line of electric cars. Also, it plans to release only electric models starting in 2026, a giant step that the four-ring brand believes will ensure its relevance in the auto market.

The 2023 Audi e-tron comes in three trim levels called Premium ($70,800), Premium Plus ($77,800), and Chronos Edition ($86, 400). Unfortunately, the amended federal tax credit regulation disqualifies the e-tron, though that could change once Audi relocates the EV's assembly to North America. Although each trim has standard features, getting some optional features will bump up the MSRP. It boasts a power output of 402 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque. Its 0 to 100 mph record is 5.5 seconds when using boost. Buyers get 226 miles of range. Although this is average, the e-tron can charge from 5 percent to 80 percent in 30 minutes using a DC fast charger provided by the likes of Electrify America. It has a max charging power of 150 kW.

In terms of design, Audi provides interested buyers with multiple customization options. Exterior colors include Navarra Blue Metallic, Glacier White Metallic, Typhoon Gray Metallic and more. There are also three types of wheels available. The interior has luxurious seats with a heated massage function, which seems to justify the hefty starting price. In addition, new purchases of the e-tron get rewarded with two years of complimentary charging from Electrify America. Given the e-tron's fast charging capability, this feels like a good deal.

The Audi EV features some exciting technologies. First, the virtual cockpit plus, which acts as the digital instrument cluster offering essential information. Bang & Olufsen speakers come standard, bringing a rich sound experience. Using the myAudi app, drivers can precondition the e-tron according to their needs. Finally, there are some driver assistance systems like the pre-sense front, adaptive cruise assist, a top view camera, lane departure warning, and more.
