The Television Academy announced the nominees of the 73rd annual Primetime Emmy Awards earlier this morning. In a chaotic year that saw the COVID-19 pandemic confining audiences within their own homes, streaming services dominated the market; this is reflected in the ubiquitous presence of original streaming series in every category. With Disney+'s content output gaining momentum in the past year, the service has nabbed nominations for their first wave of MCU tie-in series WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Netflix scored several nominations for quarantine favorite The Queen's Gambit, while Apple TV+'s breakout hit Ted Lasso received nominations in heavy-hitting categories as well.
