2016 MTV Movie Award Winners List - Did Your Favorites Win?

MTV Movie Awards

The 2016 MTV Movie Awards, this year's installment of the awards show known to cater more to the tastes of MTV's historically teen-centered demographic rather than critics or film buffs, was taped yesterday to air tonight on MTV. It was the 25th anniversary of the awards, and MTV celebrated the occasion by filming the event outdoors on a Warner Bros. backlot and inviting thousands of people to attend.

The awards show was hosted by Central Intelligence's Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, who used the occasion to plug their upcoming film. Hart joked about the movie winning next week's awards, saying "We're basically going to be the Titanic of 2017. And we're going to f*** a bear, just in case." The awards had a distinctly Star Wars-focused theme to it as well, with the movie winning several awards and the event ending with a fireworks display and fans waving red and blue lightsabers in the air.

The list of nominees and winners for the 2016 MTV Movie Awards (via the LA Times) is below. With MTV not afraid to be controversial by awarding movies that are pop culture milestones rather than necessarily the most critically beloved of the year, feel free to weigh in with your own opinions on their picks in the comments section.
