Josh was arrested for having inappropriate material on his technological devices. The material showed child sexual abuse and landed him in legal trouble. While the trial was expected to be held in July, 19 Kids & Counting's Josh asked for it to be moved to February 2022. 19 Kids & Counting fans continue to wait to see if Josh will be sent to prison. Josh requested the trial to be postponed because of changes in his legal team. Apparently, the team welcomed “an independent computer forensic expert who must conduct a computer forensic examination of each of the devices at issue—a time-consuming process that requires review at a government facility.” All devices in Josh's possession, both with and without the content, are to be examined.

Jeremy, who shared the video on Instagram, allegedly directed his sermon at Josh when he preached at his former church, Grace Community Church. The former soccer player and pastor referenced James 5:13-18 to support his message. The power of prayer was the topic of Jeremy’s sermon. As Josh’s brother-in-law, Jeremy has seen 19 Kids & Counting's Josh in a close light. The pastor insisted that husbands must treat their wives right. Jeremy allegedly preached to Josh about prayers being unanswered as a result of mistreatment of their wives. His alleged message to Josh was, “He tells husbands that in 1 Peter 3, you’re going to treat your wife like that? Okay, buddy, I’m not going to listen to you.”

It is uncertain if Josh received the message. However, viewers of 19 Kids & Counting left lengthy comments about how Jeremy’s post moved them. One wrote, "Loved this sermon on prayer! You look and sound confident. Great job! When you are praying, please consider not packing up your books but pause to show God that your attention is one to Him. Thank you for lifting our hearts and spirit today Jeremy.” Another wrote, “Thank you for this awesome teaching on prayer! I loved this as I am studying about Elijah right now. The whole idea surrounding the fact that Elijah had a nature like ours, and yet did some bold and courageous things while leaning on and believing in God's promises, gives all Christians hope and encouragement. We too can pray God's promises with the same boldness as Elijah, and see God move mountains. Thank you!!!

Jeremy’s alleged message to Josh from 19 Kids & Counting was to repent of his sins and treat his wife right. One comment even said Josh’s wife is a victim. Josh may or may not take heed of Jeremy’s message, but it impacted some viewers on Instagram. As Josh’s brother-in-law, Jeremy may be realizing that Josh has a problematic view of women and children.
