Tammy Slaton has attempted to lose weight in 1000-lb Sisters, and although her family has tried their best to help her through the journey, fans think Tammy likes to have control over her siblings. Tammy's been slow to make progress and frequently resents any support her family members offer her. From refusing to become more independent to unrealistic expectations for her siblings, here's why 1000-lb Sisters fans think Tammy uses her weight to manipulate her family.

Throughout her harrowing weight loss quest in 1000-lb Sisters, Tammy's relied on her brother and sisters for medical help as well as emotional support. In season 1, Tammy and Amy motivated each other as they both worked to qualify for bariatric surgery. After Tammy failed to match Amy's success, the Slaton sisters' brother, Chris Combs, joined the family's reality series to help Tammy stay on track. Regrettably, Tammy strayed even further from her weight loss ambitions in season 2, and her siblings are running out of options in season 3. The latest Slaton sibling recruited to help Tammy is Amanda, who underwent bariatric surgery seven years ago. Unfortunately, a new preview demonstrates that Tammy isn't open to all of Amanda's suggestions.

In a clip shared by E!, Amanda asks Tammy how she likes her new electric wheelchair. Instead of appreciating the gift her siblings afforded her, Tammy's angry at her siblings for forcing her to use the vehicle. In the scene, Tammy wonders "Is [the wheelchair] really for me or for them?" Sadly, the more Amanda, Amy, and Chris ask their sister about her experience with the electric chair, the more irritated Tammy becomes. Ultimately, Amanda and Tammy exchange curse words and storm off. Although the divide between the Slaton sisters is striking, fans were most interested in Tammy demonstrating another example of her disdain for independence. Whether she's annoyed with Amy for getting her materials to make meals on her own or frustrated with her family for getting her a wheelchair she can operate herself, Tammy's frequently peeved when she has less control over her siblings.

Tammy Slaton in 1000-lb Sisters

Tammy might say that she wants to stop relying on her family members, but the 1000-lb Sisters star is resistant to being self-sufficient whenever presented the opportunity. A Reddit user explained, "Tammy is always saying how she can do for herself, time to put up or shut up." Other fans think that Tammy doesn't want to get better because she will lose the control she has over Amy, Chris, and Amanda. If Tammy were to be able to cook for herself and move around on her own, her siblings wouldn't prioritize her. On top of wanting to order her family around, viewers also think Tammy manipulates her siblings because she doesn't have control over her own life. A commenter hypothesized, "It wasn’t her decision to get the electric scooter, so she doesn’t want any part of it... It’s her way of manipulating and controlling the situation she’s in."

Tammy hasn't had much autonomy since she's starred in 1000-lb Sisters, but fans think the reality star's found ways to control her family. From refusing to be self-sufficient to expecting her siblings to care for her no matter what, viewers think Tammy's used her weight to manipulate her family. Hopefully, Tammy will start to fend for herself before it's too late in 1000-lb Sisters.
