All 1000-lb Sisters viewers understand Amy and Tammy Slaton have a complicated relationship, but fans might not know that Tammy didn't even attend her sister's first wedding. The pair of sisters have had their fair share of nasty arguments, but it's unlike Amy and Tammy to not show up for monumental moments in each other's lives. From the casual marriage ceremony to Tammy's health complications, here's why Tammy wasn't there when her sister tied the knot.

While the core of 1000-lb Sisters might appear to be Amy and Tammy's weight loss journeys, the true foundation of the hit reality series is the bond between the Slaton sisters. Unfortunately, the duo of entertainers are remembered for their slew of volatile disagreements of which Tammy is usually the instigator. While they might have their spats, Amy and Tammy's relationship has weathered intimidating storms on and off of reality TV. Since they were children, Amy and Tammy fended for themselves while their mother was working part-time jobs day and night. Additionally, when the sisters failed to reach their weight loss goals in 1000-lb Sisters, Amy and Tammy have served as sources of support and motivation for one another. This makes it all the more surprising that Tammy didn't show up for Amy's first wedding.

Amy and her husband Michael Halterman are one of the most consistent aspects of the tumultuous 1000-lb Sisters series. Viewers have embraced Michael for the unconditional love he shows both Amy and Tammy, as he regularly assists his wife in her caretaking tasks. Amy and Michael have been a strong couple since they met during their high school years in Dixon, Kentucky. Fans watched Amy and Michael get remarried in season 1, but the first time the pair tied the knot was a much less public affair. The first time Amy and Michael got married was on March 15, 2019, in Nashville. Although this was an extraordinary milestone in Amy and Michael's relationship, the couple's first wedding day was not the spectacle fans might imagine as it took place in a courthouse. Another one of the missing elements of the pair's initial ceremony was Tammy's presence.

Tammy and Amy Slaton on 1000-Lb Sisters

Although Amy was surely disappointed her sister wasn't in attendance on her special day, Tammy had her reasons for not making it to the Nashville courthouse. According to SoapDirt, Tammy was having problems with her health on the day of Amy and Michael's wedding. Tammy shared that she was in a great deal of pain when Amy was getting married thanks to a diet pill she was taking. Allegedly, the pills caused severe stomach cramping that left Tammy unable to travel. While Tammy might not have been able to make it to Amy's momentous event, the elder Slaton sister's absence is not the result of any ill will between the siblings. Fortunately, Tammy got another chance to prove her enthusiasm for Amy and Micheal's marriage when the spouses got remarried in 1000-lb Sisters. Tammy even organized a bachelorette party for her sister the second time around.

Tammy hasn't always been the best older sister to Amy, but fans can't imagine the reality star willingly opting out of her sister's wedding. Regrettably, Tammy's weight loss journey got in the way of Amy's special day as diet pills left the TV personality in no shape to attend her sister's marriage ceremony. While Tammy might be petty every now and then in 1000-lb Sisters, it wasn't the entertainer's choice to miss her sister's first wedding.
