Amy Slaton is a favorite among the 1000-lb Sisters fanbase, but some of the reality star's critics aren't letting the entertainer off the hook for her allegedly scamming her followers in the past. Although Amy is known for being the voice of reason on the Slaton sisters' reality show, the TV star was constantly involved in controversy before making it to the small screen. Here's everything there is to know about the time Amy attempted to get her fans to buy her a MacBook.

Amy has been at the center of several scandals in the years leading up to her reality TV debut. Typically, Tammy is in the hot seat when it comes to fans' frustration. Tammy's aggravated fans for a myriad of reasons which include knowingly getting into a relationship with a married man and lashing out at Amy for trivial reasons. Although she's usually the target of Tammy's ire, Amy's not that innocent. On her wildly popular YouTube channel, Amy's owned up to some of her wrongdoings like when she was arrested for stealing a book from Walmart. Additionally, Amy was known to stir up trouble during the days of her YouTube prominence.

One way Amy consistently got in trouble with her fanbase was through GoFundMe. Although the donation website is typically used for emergencies, fans are alleging that Amy used GoFundMe to buy a laptop. Amy was first called out for her untrustworthy GoFundMe use when she told her viewers Tammy was close to death. After posting a moving video on YouTube explaining that Tammy wouldn't make it back from the hospital, Amy started a GoFundMe so fans could help the reality star afford a costly coffin for Tammy. To Amy's followers' shock, Tammy was alive and well in a video on Amy's YouTube channel not long after the GoFundMe was launched. Fans believed Amy stole their money on the charitable website. Amy's followers recalled that this wasn't the only time the reality star took advantage of her followers online.

One fan on Reddit pointed out, "nobody talks about the time Amy set up yet another go fund me account to raise money for a MacBook." Unfortunately for curious 1000-lb Sisters supporters, Amy's MacBook GoFundMe is no longer active as a result of the backlash the reality star received after the alleged coffin scam. Although fans were happy to contribute toward what they thought was a ceremony honoring Tammy's life, Amy's followers found her MacBook GoFundMe was less noble. One fan explained, "Her excuse was wanting it to better edit her videos." Many of Amy's fans found this plea for money to be a scam because the 1000-lb Sisters doesn't need fans to buy a laptop for her. Another Reddit fan argued in defense of Amy, "If she explicitly said that it was for a MacBook then what's the issue?" This viewer thinks Amy's GoFundMe was justified.

Like all reality stars, Amy can be a polarizing character. While some might criticize Amy because she asked fans to give her money for MacBook, others think there's nothing wrong with the TV personality being straightforward and asking for what she wants. Whether fans slam or defend Amy for requesting donations for a MacBook, hopefully, the Slaton sister will learn from this controversy and put some of her 1000-lb Sisters salary toward her next laptop.
