Films like The Irishman, The Old Guard, and The Trial of the Chicago 7 show that Netflix's original movie library has exciting offers to choose from. With 2021 quickly on the horizon, Netflix has an exciting lineup of new films set to come out throughout the year.

Blonde

Blonde is an upcoming biopic on the legendary actress Marilyn Monroe and it is based on the novel of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates. Ana De Armas, hot off her breakout role in Knives Out, is set to play the legendary Hollywood figure, with Andrew Dominik at the directing helm.

Other cast members include Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, and Sara Paxton. While Michelle Williams did portray Monroe in My Week With Marilyn in 2011, Blonde will be a fictionalized look at Monroe's life instead of a brief chapter.

Fear Street

Fear Street is the first of an upcoming trilogy set to debut on Netflix in the summer of 2021. It is directed by Leigh Janiak and is based on the series of novels from Goosebumps author, R.L. Stine.

The film follows a group of teenagers in 1994 who find out that the terrifying events occurring in their town of Shadyside, OH, may be connected and they may be the next targets. The trilogy will all be released within one month of each other on Netflix.

The Woman In The Window

The Woman in the Window was initially supposed to be released by 20th Century Fox in Oct. 2019, but due to delays and the coronavirus pandemic, it will now be distributed by Netflix in 2021. It's a psychological thriller directed by Joe Wright and based on the novel by A.J. Finn.

The film revolves around an agoraphobic photographer who befriends her neighbor across the street. However, her life is turned upside down when the woman disappears and a mystery begins. The Woman in the Window has a tremendous cast that includes Amy Adams, Gary Oldman, Anthony Mackie, Brian Tyree Henry, and Julianne Moore.

Pinocchio

While Disney has their own separate live-action Pinocchio in the works, this is an animated version from Oscar-winning director Guillermo Del Toro.

This version of Pinnochio will see the wooden boy and Gepetto filmed entirely in stop-motion animation and will be a much darker version than the Disney classic that everyone knows. It has a great voice cast, with Ewan McGregor, Christoph Waltz, Tilda Swinton, and Ron Perlman, and will be based on The Adventures of Pinocchio novel by Carlo Collodi.

The Kissing Booth 3

Rachel, Lee, And Elle in high school

The first two Kissing Booth movies didn't have the best reputation with all critics, but there is certainly an audience on Netflix who enjoys them.

The third entry finds Elle (Joey King) caught in an important decision on where to go to college. However, drama ensues when she gets into both Harvard, where her boyfriend Noah (Jacob Elordi) goes, and Berkeley, where her BFF Lee (Joel Courtney) is going. It's the perfect premise for those looking forward to another entry in this somewhat cheesy teenage rom-com series.

Tick, Tick... Boom!

Anything that Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda touches turns to gold, so this new Netflix musical is highly anticipated by fans of Miranda's work. Tick, Tick... Boom is a biographical musical about Jonathan Larson, creator of the hit musical, Rent, who tragically passed away before it debuted on Broadway.

The film sees Jon as an aspiring theater composer in New York City while writing Superbia, which he hopes will be his big break. This will be Miranda's second directorial feature after his little-known Clayton's Friends from 1996, but he isn't starring. The cast includes Vanessa Hudgens, Robin de Jesus, and Bradley Whitford.

Chicken Run 2

It has been a while since anyone has heard from the rebellious chickens from Chicken Run. But in 2021, these chickens will all be coming back for a new sequel coming to Netflix. Netflix and Aardman Animation are teaming up to continue the story from the first film and this will be the first joint feature film from the companies.

The sequel will see Babs, Ginger, Rocky, and Fletcher living on their new island after narrowly escaping from Tweedy's farm. It hasn't been confirmed yet whether Mel Gibson and the other voice cast will be returning from the first film.

Don't Look Up

Director Adam McKay has worked with some incredible actors in his films, including those in Anchorman, Vice, and The Big Short. However, this may be his most impressive cast yet. For Don't Look Up, McKay is bringing together Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Timothée Chalamet, Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, and Jonah Hill. It's hard to even count how many Oscar-nominations belong to this cast.

Don't Look Up is about two astronomers who come across a brick wall while trying to warn the world about a giant meteorite headed toward Earth.

Wendell & Wild

Wendell & Wild is a new stop-motion animated film coming from director Henry Selick, who has given us The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline. Joining Selick is the iconic comedy duo, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, who will be reuniting to write and lend the voices to the film.

The story is about two demon brothers who escape the underworld and must avoid a teenager who is trying to destroy them. It sounds like another impressive family-horror hybrid from Selick and his team that should debut sometime around Halloween.

Red Notice

Red Notice will be the big, action blockbuster coming to Netflix in 2021 and it stars some of the most exciting action stars in the business. Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds are teaming up for this action thriller directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber.

Red Notice is about a group of agents who are assigned to track down an internationally wanted art thief. Action fans should look forward to seeing Black Adam, Wonder Woman, and Deadpool all teaming up in the same movie.
