With the last two Spider-Man movies that Sony made not setting the world on fire, it looked like the movie studio was on its last legs with their Marvel properties. They agreed to let Marvel Studios use Spider-Man again and then decided to take one more shot at success with a movie most people expected to fail. That movie was based on a Marvel villain in Venom.

What happened was shocking. Venom ended up as a monster success and actually made more than every single X-Men movie, from the team efforts to the Wolverine films.

With Venom a major success, here are 10 more Marvel villains who need their own movie.

10. Magneto

TheVerge

There was already supposed to be a movie about Magneto after the first X-Men trilogy wrapped up. X-Men Origins: Wolverine was supposed to open the way for more spin-off origin movies for the mutants and their villains. The second film was supposed to focus on Magneto, the villain who went from prison camps at the Holocaust to the forefront of the battle for mutant rights.

It didn't work out at the time, and much of Magneto's backstory was told in the next trilogy as he and Charles Xavier found their place in the world. However, Magneto is still a fantastically interesting villain who needs his own movie; hopefully keeping Michael Fassbender in the role.

9. Loki

10 Marvel Villains Who Need Their Own Movies

There is little chance of a Loki movie happening, which is tragic. However, the good news is that Marvel is not finished with the God of Mischief. Instead of a movie, Marvel is making a Loki television show for their Disney+ network. This will allow Tom Hiddleston to give fans more great Loki stories without being forced onto the screen with his older brother.

However, Loki is a villain who deserves his own movie. Every time that Loki has appeared in a Thor or Avengers movie, he has stolen the entire show. He is a star and could really shine in his own solo film.

8. Sinister Six

10 Marvel Villains Who Need Their Own Movies

Sony might swing back around to their earlier idea of making their own Sinister Six movie. This group was supposed to first appear in the Marc Webb Amazing Spider-Man franchise with Andrew Garfield. They introduced Rhino and Electro and set up Easter eggs for Vulture and Doctor Octopus.

It didn't happen, though, as they stopped production, and while fans did get Vulture in a Marvel movie— and Mysterio is coming—it might not happen in a Spider-Man movie at all.

However, Sony teased a villain team-up movie with the Sinister Six and now that Venom is a success, they might try again. If Sony is smart, they will see where Suicide Squad struggled and give their own baddies a chance to fly.

7. Kang The Conqueror

10 Marvel Villains Who Need Their Own Movies

Kang the Conqueror seems like he could be a perfect villain to appear in the Avengers movies. However, with The Avengers seeming to wrap up their run in the fourth movie, where does that leave the time-traveling conqueror of worlds? Of course, he did get to be the top villain in a LEGO game, but that isn't enough.

Kang the Conqueror should be a villain to get his own movie; one that ties all the heroes of Marvel together in a similar way that Thanos did this year. He is strong enough and smart enough to beat any superhero, and it would take a massive effort to finish him off. Kang could be the next Thanos — maybe even be better.

6. Taskmaster

10 Marvel Villains Who Need Their Own Movies

Taskmaster is a villain who deserves his own movie just because he is awesome. Seriously, his only power is mimicking every hero that he has ever seen. But he is just so cool and oozes the fact that he is the toughest guy in any room that he walks into. However, what would the movie be about?

In the comics, there was a point where Taskmaster was asked to join the Secret Avengers and then S.H.E.I.L.D. sent him undercover to work as a double-agent. Making an espionage movie with Taskmaster as the lead is something Marvel needs to do right now.

5. Emma Frost

10 Marvel Villains Who Need Their Own Movies

Fox tried to bring Emma Frost to life twice in their movies. Unfortunately, both attempts failed miserably. In X-Men: First Class, Emma was there as part of the Hellfire Club with Sebastian Stan. While that played into the comic book history of that group, she was nothing more than eye candy and a lackey to Stan. She never once received the respect that a character of her stature deserved.

Don't even try to think about what they did in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Emma Frost is a powerful and capable mutant, skillful enough to get away with just about anything, and confident enough to drag anyone down with her. If there is one female Marvel villain who deserves her own movie, it is Emma Frost, easily.

4. Kraven The Hunter

10 Marvel Villains Who Need Their Own Movies

Sony saw big dollar signs with Venom and they have even bigger plans for Kraven the Hunter. Now, Kraven surely deserves to have his best story told in the Spider-Man franchise itself. However, if Sony wants fans to get to know Kraven before Kraven's Last Hunt, they have a lot of directions they can go.

The good news is that Sony is actively developing a Kraven the Hunter movie. Reports indicate that screenwriter Richard Wenk (Equalizer) has already penned the script and thinks Antoine Fuqua, who directed Equalizer, would be the perfect fit to direct the film.

3. Sabretooth

10 Marvel Villains Who Need Their Own Movies

Sabretooth has made two appearances in the movie world. First, he was in the very first X-Men movie. That film saw former wrestler Tyler Mane take on the role, although it was nowhere near as nuanced as the character in the comics. However, Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth was one of the few things that X-Men Origins: Wolverine got right.

The bonus is that Sabretooth walked away at the end of that latter movie and the timeline changes. Thanks to Days of Future Past, it makes it seem like he could come back again. With Marvel getting their hands on the X-Men again, a Sabretooth movie where he is the antihero that he has been lately could be brilliant.

2. Norman Osborn

10 Marvel Villains Who Need Their Own Movies

Norman Osborn has been around for a number of movies. In the first Spider-Man film, Willem Dafoe was brilliant in his role as the Green Goblin, the first villain Spider-Man faced. He then tormented his son from the grave in the next two movies. In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Norman passed away and his son became the first Green Goblin in that timeline.

However, forget about the Green Goblin. Norman Osborn is a Marvel villain that deserves his own movie. It should focus around just Norman Osborn — not a costumed supervillain. Play it like the post-Secret Invasion comics where he gets power in the government and starts to make life hard for all costumed do-gooders.

1. Doctor Doom

10 Marvel Villains Who Need Their Own Movies

Not only is Doctor Doom the most worthy Marvel villain who needs his own movie, but he is also a villain that needs the movie that Fox wanted to make before the Disney acquisition. Fox messed up in the first Fantastic Four movie with the character and bungled it horribly in the 2015 reboot.

However, it seemed like Fox was finally making everything right with the world when they hired Noah Hawley to work on a script for a solo Doctor Doom movie. For fans who don't know, Hawley is the showrunner of Legion, the most brilliant superhero television show Fox produces. It's also one that stars a Marvel villain. This is a movie that has to happen.
