True sitcom fans don't discriminate between new and old series since they know that as long as a show gets you laughing, it's worth lots of praise. From classic outings like Cheers to more contemporary fare such as Netflix's originals Santa Clarita Diet and Love, there are so many hilarious shows to choose from these days.

When we want to sit down with a sitcom on a weeknight or when we have a weekend free to binge, we need some options, and we want to ensure that what we're about to put on will be amazing. Here are the ten best sitcoms to watch on Netflix.

Schitt's Creek

Schitt's Creek is one of the best sitcoms that we can watch on Netflix, and it's a show that everyone's relative or friend has recommended to them. It's the kind of sitcom that is addictive and once someone starts watching it, they can't stop (and they want to tell everyone that they know).

The series follows a family who lose all their money and, out of prospects, are forced to move to the super small town that they apparently own. The coolest part about this sitcom (besides how funny and smart it is) is that it was created by father/son team Eugene and Dan Levy. It also stars Catherine O'Hara, who is glorious as the fabulous and dramatic wife and mom.

The Office

The Office is also one of the best sitcoms that are currently streaming on Netflix. It's a total classic because fans can't get enough of the hilarious show set in a super boring office. The Office is considered to be a "mockumentary" since, although it's fictional, it's shot like a doc.

While none of us actually want to work in this environment, mostly because some of the characters are pretty wacky and out there, we definitely want to watch it. The show ran for five seasons from 2005 until 2013 and stars Steve Carrell, John Krasinski, Mindy Kaling, Ed Helms, and Jenna Fischer. People who love this series really, really get into it and quote it all the time.

Workin' Moms

Workin' Moms is a hilarious take on, well, being a working mother as the title suggests. The sitcom follows four women as they return to their office environments post-baby. The show stars Juno Rinaldi, Catherine Reitman, and Dani Kind. There have been three seasons so far. Parents will definitely laugh at how real everything on the show is, and even if you don't have kids, you can still appreciate the funny moments and the overall theme of whether balancing things in your life is possible.

Fun fact: Catherine Reitman also created the show, and she's the sister of director Jason Reitman.

Kim's Convenience

Kim's Convenience is another great sitcom to stream on Netflix. It focuses on a family who are of Korean-Canadian background and have their own convenience store. The sitcom stars Andrea Bang, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, and Jean Yoon and was created by Kevin White and Ins Choi. There have been three seasons so far, so there are plenty of episodes to watch, which is good news since viewers will definitely be hooked.

This sitcom has an interesting backstory, too: it was originally a play at the 2011 Toronto Fringe Festival. In 2015, the CBC started the process of creating a TV show.

Alexa And Katie

While Alexa and Katie has a bit of a cheesy tone (okay, it's definitely very cheesy), that's actually the reason why it's so charming and watchable. It's a comforting show that is family friendly since it's about two teenage girls who are the best of friends. But since one of them has cancer, it's a bit more serious than we might expect from the title and any promotional photos that we've seen of it.

The show stars Tiffani Thiessen, Isabel May, and Paris Berelc. There are two seasons so far and it's one of the best sitcoms to watch on Netflix. Try it and you will most likely find it funny and charming.

Grace And Frankie

Grace and Frankie deserves to be considered one of the best sitcoms on Netflix since the premise is intelligent and the humor just keeps on coming. The show stars the amazingly talented Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as older women who become friends when their husbands fall for each other.

It's a premise that grabs your attention, that's for sure, but the show earns its respect since all five seasons are solid. The show also stars June Diane Raphael, Martin Sheen, and Sam Waterston, who are all hilarious and wonderful and really make it an all-star cast. Sure, at times it leans on jokes about being older but it's definitely about friendship, love, and being happy.

BoJack Horseman

BoJack Horseman is another great sitcom on Netflix. It's more complicated than your average sitcom since it deals with serious themes. The animated show is about a famous actor (voiced by Will Arnett) and the twist is that it's the characters are animals who can walk and talk and basically act like human beings. BoJack isn't your typical sunny sitcom character, that's for sure.

Besides being, you know, a horse, he also deals with insecurity and his various relationships. There are five seasons and 61 episodes so far. Fans and critics love this show since the animation is so cool and since it's just so intelligent.

Great News

Great News, created by Tracey Wigfield and produced by Tina Fey, is simply a great sitcom. Sadly, it was cancelled, but there's some great news for sitcom lovers who haven't checked the show out yet: there are two seasons and 23 episodes available for streaming on Netflix.

The show follows a TV producer played by Briga Heelan whose work life is turned upside down when her mother (an amazing Andrea Martin) starts an internship at, yup, the very same news station where she works. Nicole Richie deserves a mention as one of the news anchors who is stylish and very funny.

The Good Place

The Good Place is definitely not a normal sitcom... which is why it's such a solid pick and why it deserves to be on this list. The series stars Kristen Bell as Eleanor, a girl who wasn't exactly the sweetest when she was alive... but now that she finds herself in "the good place" (which is basically heaven), she has an opportunity to turn that around and become a nice person. The story follows Eleanor and her new friends as they navigate all the wild things that happen to them. And it really does get crazy.

The Good Place is so inventive and beautifully crafted, and thankfully it's on Netflix, so we can watch it more than once (which we'll want to do to make sure that we understand everything that's going on). And Ted Danson is awesome in this show, too.

One Day At A Time

One Day At A Time is a sitcom that you absolutely need to watch if you haven't. Thankfully, it's streaming on Netflix, but unfortunately, it was just cancelled.

The news left both fans and critics reeling since it's not only such a witty show but it's a culturally significant one. The show delivers the required laughter of a sitcom but also tells the story of a Cuban-American family who deal with serious issues. While it's a revival of the Norman Lear-produced sitcom from 1975, One Day At A Time only shares a few similarities with the original (a mom and her kids living in an apartment and dealing with a wacky super). While it's too bad that there likely won't be more episodes, at least you can catch up on the three seasons if you haven't seen it.
