Zoolander 2 is the forthcoming sequel from writer, director, and star Ben Stiller to his original feature film property from 2001, featuring the dimwitted runway model Derek Zoolander and his professional competitor Hansel McDonald (Owen Wilson). Based on all appearances presented in the first teaser trailer, Stiller and Wilson will mount a return to the very same well of intentionally shallow, social satire, come the film’s February 2016 theatrical release.

As the release date for Stiller’s latest directorial effort looms ever closer, fans of the production’s off-beat irreverence can set their sights on some new posters from the production. These two images are decidedly in keeping with the comedic sensibility established in the first film, and all without making it look as though the film’s excrutiatingly vain character has aged a day.

As supplied by the film’s distributor Paramount Pictures, the first two posters for the new studio comedy see Derek and Hansel in a series of dueling advertisements for the new movie that double as tongue-in-cheek digs at contemporary fashion adverts. Stiller and Wilson pout with as much skill as ever, promising a sequel every bit as satisfying as its predecessor, and with double the amounts of brashly cynical satire regarding the fashion industry.

So far, the promotion of Stiller’s new project appears to offer fans of the original everything they’ve been clamoring for in the year’s since his first take on the fashion industry became a phenomenon among its sizable base of loyal fans. It’s still too early to make any grand statements or predictions regarding the final product, however entertaining the footage released so far may be.

Given Stiller’s track record with this and similarly edgy material, like Tropic Thunder, the director’s latest studio comedy might just be even better than the original film it follows. Only time will tell how critics and fans alike will respond when the film is finally released, though Stiller and Hansel appear self-assured as ever, Blue Steel pose and all.

Zoolander 2 will see theatrical release in the U.S. on February 12th, 2016.
