People who find themselves to be really, really, ridiculously good looking – or perhaps were just fans of the 2001 Ben Stiller comedy, Zoolander, were probably ecstatic last week when news hit that Zoolander 2 in the works.

Details we knew at the time of the announcement – which broke over at Deadline – is that Stiller is writing the script along with his Tropic Thunder scribe Justin Theroux, and that Theroux is also planning on directing. Rising comedy star Jonah Hill may end up starring in the movie as the primary villain, which is exciting news as I think he would fit very well within the world of Zoolander.

Now we get word from Stiller himself via MTV that Zoolander 2 is definitely happening (read: it wasn’t just a false rumor) and he gave some details on what we can expect from the long anticipated sequel. He discussed such things as the possibility of Will Ferrell coming back as the character of Mugatu (he was such a fantastically funny villain), and also that the story will take place 10 years after the first movie ended, when Derek and Hansel (played by Owen Wilson in the first) are literally forgotten about. As Stiller says in the interview, in the fashion world 10 years isn’t just 10 years…

Instead of transcribing everything  Stiller said, why not just check out the video for yourself? Here it is, courtesy of MTV:

Does Zoolander necessarily NEED a sequel? No, probably not. But if you’re a fan of the first one, the idea of seeing some of those now-classic comedy characters back in a new movie is pretty awesome in my eyes. I’m particularly excited to hear Ferrell may be coming back as the ridiculous Mugatu and, of course, Wilson too. The relationship between Stiller’s Derek and Wilson’s Hansel was one of the key reasons why the first one worked as well as it did. Long live Zoolander, I say!

Do you like the details you’re hearing about Zoolander 2? Are you glad they’re making another one?

Zoolander 2 is still in the early scripting stages so no word when we might see it in theaters. As always Screen Rant will be sure to keep you posted on that front.
