It seems everything is going that way now anyways. Personally lately there has been more good TV shows than movies. The next episode of TV shows are usually really good and thought provoking. I loved the movie, really did, but I really can't wait for the next great movie that <i>doesn't</i> spawn a franchise. It seems if anything is in any way decent and brings in the money, it must automatically get a sequel, even if the original film didn't cry out for one. I loved Zombieland, but I think it works really really well as a stand alone movie. The Matrix also worked really well as a stand alone movie and look at what happened there. That and Zombieland wasn't based off of anything else (except for the genre and considering Vampires are the big thing right now, I think it was great that a Zombie film can do so well), it was an original script and it did well. Doesn't that mean that if you simply get good scripts and sell them well, you might just end up with successes without needing to base your movies on existing properties?
