Although they are quiet and reserved by nature, Aquariuses are intellectual thinkers with a natural sense of helping others and making the world a better place. They can be eccentric and energetic, but they need time to recharge their batteries and spend some time alone.
They prefer mental battles over physical, they might seem emotionless but they care for everyone and their opinions and safety. As heroes, they strive to give a voice to everyone and they can easily adapt to any situation. Let's look at our favorite Aquarius protagonists in movies.
Donnie Darko - Donnie Darko (2001)
Donnie Darko is a troubled youth that experiences hallucinations of a demonic, giant rabbit that warns that the world will end in 28 days. The whole premise of the movie is wondering if Donnie is actually seeing these visions or if he is simply hallucinating them and suffering from some sort of mental breakdown.
As an Aquarius, Donnie rebels when he feels like he's being oppressed and he is a free thinker, standing up for what he believes in and resenting everyone trying to help him. He displays the more negative signs of the Zodiac but is nonetheless a true Aquarius.
Hope Pym - MCU
Hope is a little rough around the edges, giving off a cold and distant vibe but deep down is a caring person with a big heart. She has enough patience to put up with her father and enough will to put up with Scott Lang's shenanigans.
Like her father, she is smart and loves an intellectual challenge and her commitment to her father's mission made her a bit of a loner. She will never tell Scott how she feels about him but she cares for him deeply.
Aquaman - DCEU
Born January 29th and the king of every water surface in the world, it's only natural that Aquaman would be an Aquarius. Spending most of his life questioning his identity, he was a bit of a loner, only building a relationship with his father. Even after he learned of his heritage he preferred to work alone and only reluctantly let Mera helo him.
He splits his time between the sea and land and he helps others but never asks for the attention. He looks intimidating on the outside but deep down he's a good man with a big heart. He will always deflect any emotional conversation with jokes and sarcasm.
Arthur Weasley - Harry Potter Franchise
Born February 6th Arthur is not only a total Aquarius but also born one, so he can't help it. Arthur Weasley is eccentric, curious, and passionate about his job. He's a great lover and father, always being supportive and understanding to his kids and even acts as a father figure to Harry.
He promotes all types of views and is one of the few wizards who is fascinated by muggles and he is constantly at odds with Lucius Malfoy for his close-minded views on wizardry and magic.
Luna Lovegood - Harry Potter Franchise
Born February 13th, Luna is arguably the most eccentric student in a school full of wizards and magic. Luna is a firm believer in a lot of things, including some unconventional and weird beliefs about mystical creatures.
She teaches Harry to be more accepting of other people and to never judge a book by its cover. Her bravery and undying support for her friends made her a powerful wizard and an ally in the Battle of Hogwarts.
Princess Anna - Frozen & Frozen 2
Anna has a lot of great Aquarius characteristics like her independent nature and acceptance of all beliefs. She's also very resourceful and charismatic, gaining friendships and allies along her journey.
However, Anna also displays some negative Aquarius traits like her endless sarcasm and constant boredom and inability to follow the rules set by her older sister.
Yoda - Star Wars Saga
In the prequels, Yoda was a stoic and cold figure, the leader of the powerful Jedi, and a respectable master of Jedi arts. An intellectual being promoting peace and acceptance throughout the galaxy.
In the original trilogy, Yoda is more eccentric and emotional, playing around with Luke and doing a complete 180 from his personality before. He displays a lot of Aquarius qualities including his lack of emotional understanding and his preferences of being alone on a planet with almost no life.
Merida - Brave (2012)
Merida has the hardest time conforming to rules. She is forced to live a modest life like a princess but her heart is set on adventures and making a name for herself. She's ambitious and very independent, she fights for a good cause and is unwavering when it comes to it.
She sets herself from the crowd because she is such a free-thinker and she's unpredictable. She cares for her family deeply, she's a true Aquarius.
Moana - Moana (2016)
Like Merida, Moana doesn't want to conform to the life that was chosen for her. She rebels against her family and rides off in the water despite the warnings and rules set aside by her father.
She's fiercely independent, refusing help from anyone, even a Demi-God. She's also very ambitious, setting goals in her head and doing anything to accomplish them.
Evelyn O'Connell - The Mummy Trilogy
Rounding off our list is one of the most underrated and unknown characters on the list but it doesn't mean she's not a hero in her own right. Evie is very intellectual, a prodigy when it comes to Egyptian history and artifacts. Although she prefers to leave the fighting to her husband, she is not afraid to throw down if it means getting to what she wants.
She can be seen as shy and quiet but she has an eccentric personality depending on who she is comfortable with.
