This movie looks very interesting! I’ve read every book in that sereis, and I own all of them. Can’t wait ’till next year! I wonder who should play Otulissa? I think her voice should be a person who sounds smart, likes to prove people wrong, and is a little sassy.

I read an article, maybe after Shrek came out, that had some major talent whose voices, if not faces, we’ve known for years. When it came to the big roles in films, they were left in the cold with just small bit parts.

They all moved onto to TV and video games, but it really struck a chord with me.

It’s always frustrating to see how good talent is ignored just to have another (clumsy) celebrity on the casting list.

On the other hand, Pixar still uses a lot of “in house-talent” for their movies. (Since they can pretty much do whatever they want – whereas animation departments elsewhere don’t have that freedom at all.)

Major voice talent aren’t doing these movies anymore, unfortunately. It began with Toy Story and was cemented by Shrek. I know a few people that did voice work for cartoons and now they mostly do stuff on Nick, Disney and Cartoon Network.

300 was practically a cartoon anyway (for adults at least) so I don’t really see this as being too far outside Snyder’s norm. That is some good voice talent though. Too bad all films go for name actors for their voice talent. There are some seriously good voice actors out there who I’m sure could do just as good a job if not better.
