Zipper Stevens says:

Picture is good, there is a strong resemblance between them. But… Does he have the gravely voice? That will make or break it.

Niall says:

Beam me up…Vic!

Niall

alexius says:

The resemblence is quite strong yes, but I think Zack Quinto looks much better

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

With Leonard nimoy being in it, I’m sure Quinto has the mentor he needs to pull off the legendary Vulcan. He definately has the look down pat.

nowhereman says:

The green tint was a clever touch.
Smartly done! ;)

Antonio says:

I know my way around Photoshop, and have to say, bravo. Who’s chin did you use?

Antonio,

LOL, thanks. I actually found another image of Quinto from the front and scaled it to fit the size of his face from the Star Trek poster, so it’s his chin. :-)

Carter K. says:

I hoping this works out. But its risky. Shatner and Nimoy are so tied to their respective characters…its hard to see anyone else take on the role convincingly

Dave says:

Looks good Vic. Great idea…we can make our own promotional materials. :o )

As close as Quinto is visually, his voice is not only different from Nimoy, but also a bit feminine. I would hope that Qunito disguises his voice to something other than what he normally uses.

Dave says:

Although I must admit, the more I see this, the more I start to think that this movie will not work for me. It’s really strange seeing someone else try to be Spock. I had not felt that way until just now. I imagine I will go through the same issues with the other characters too once I see them in uniform.

Wow. I didn’t think I would feel that way. Maybe that’s why JJ’s group is reluctant to release still shots of the new actors in uniform.

CanuckLou says:

Nice job Vic. Though I would tone down the green.

Yeah, I think I was influenced a little too much by the poster. :-)

Vic

OK, I’ve toned down the green. Hit Ctrl-F5 to see the updated images.

Dave says:

Hmmmm. Leonard’s hair looked real. Quinto’s looks like a plastic mop. This picture is not making me hopeful.

Jay Cee from Chicago says:

1. Namor!! Let’s see the ankles. (Imperius Rex)

2. Ditch the scruff.

3. It is not logical to devour brains when you can mind meld with them.

790 says:

Yeah Dave, its called “execution” in the acting world. If they don’t execute these iconic characters perfectly its gonna be a epic disaster. JJ clearly dosnt want anything up on the web til the films cut.

There’s gonna be so much stuff they really can’t do between Spock and Kirk.
(Remember) the first time Spock used the Vulcan Neck pinch, Kirk never saw that before.
One thing that’s funny is I remember Spock telling Kirk how Time travel has never been proven to work. ;-)

790 says:

Any chance we can get the Mirror Mirror version.

(Pun intended) ‘-)

Maybe Vic you can copy and paste your goattee and stash?

@Jay Spock won’t have “scruff” I had to find another pic of Quinto to fill in the chin area and that had the scruff.

Vic

CanuckLou says:

Cool! Now let’s see you do a Mirror Universe version! ;D

Rob says:

woah, looks entirely real Vic

Yeap, he is a perfect looking spock and coincidently he’s a perfect actor for the role with how he played the cold and emotionless Sylar.

JC in Chicago says:

Rob,
Sylar was cold– but certainly not emotionless! His utterly wicked look, like when he was with the Wonder Twins and using Weeping Woman, are to DIE for. Literally (eeeps). The lowered head, low overhang brow, evil flash of eyes and “you’re toast” grin are subdued but friggin bone chilling! In fact, since the producers don’t want us to actually SEE Sylar’s money shot, the facial expression is the lead-in to the offscreen violence. No, he doesn’t blurt out Bwahahahas, but when his eyes glint and the brain-eatin’ grin crosses his face…look out! It’s a GREAT leap to the supposedly emotionless Spock.

I hope somewhere during Heroes’ new season they show Sylar raise one eyebrow…that would be a nice nod.

Bat says:

You all need to keep in mind that he’s not suppose to LOOK like Spock. He’s suppose to look close to what Spock might’ve looked when he was YOUNG (if his face is even different when he was young). Young as in 19-23. So, if U were trying to think that he looks like the NEW Spock, he totally doesnt! NEW spock as in: just regular old spock by a different actor. As regular Spock this kid has big eyes (Spock is a dead stare and beady as Clint EAStwood) a very roundish face (Spock has a long square-ish vulture face) and a tiny bumpkin nose (Spock’s royal nose can match The SHADOW’s, lol). So if this was to be the new guy as regular Spock, HELL no! Its basic logic on basic features. But to come across as a possible resemblance to Spock jr. it really sorta works. But that’s assuming Spock’s face is one that even changes.

tribbilations says:

The new Spock stinks..

Nimoy was a real Vulcan, you can read it in his book ” I am spock” Quinto is just an actor playing Spock. A bad imitation.
I would prefer to see a CGI animated movie with the voices of Nimoy and Shatner than this abomination of a movie that has nothing to do with Trek, but a bad rip off of it.. not to mention the horrible re-design of the Enterprise.. was the designer on drugs.. give me a club.. I want to bash his head in.. lol

I think he will be good as Spock.
He has that dark feel to him as Sylar in “Heros” so I think he can pull off that somewhat dark Spock feel.

His voice is not as low like Leonard’s. But luckily he will be playing a younger Spock should go well.

I’m glad Leonard will be in this movie.
I have always been a fan of Spock since I was really little cause my parents would watch the re-runs late at night when I wouldn’t go to sleep as a baby.
I have watched it ever since.
I liked Spocks ears & the way he was so calm.

Beside the point, I think Zach will be awesome at Spock cause he is a great actor.

Simplicity says:

Went to see the movie last night when it was released in the Great White North and he was absolutely fabulous, easily my favorite actor in the entire movie (Chris Pine’s Kirk a close second). Luckily, he wasn’t too upstaged by the return of his “older self” (Nimoy).

It was a very well-directed and thought out movie.

Brand New Trekkie says:

W-O-W!!!!! I must say, at first I didn’t think I’d want to go watch the movie. Star Trek was never really my style. But I watched some of the old ones and I liked it. Then I went to watch the movie, and I just fell in love. ESpecially with Spock. Choosing Quinto as Spock was probably the smartest choice they could make

kate says:

Late to the game, but I have to add that Quinto totally rocked it as Spock. He was easily my favorite part of the movie. I had never seen anything he’s done before and I was wary of anyone replacing our beloved Vulcan, but I’m totally glad they picked him.

Jennifer Jones says:

Wow… Everybody’s a critic! I love Leonard Nimoy to death, and I now adore Zachary Quinto for his portrayal of Spock in this film. Not only did he have the look down pat -and let me say that his sexy Vulcan look rocked! -but his performance was more than exceptional -it was excellent! Star Trek 2009 did NOT disappoint! =)

VERRY says:

I know some people may not like Zachary Quinto as Spock but I think he did a great job. I love Leonard Nimoy and i’m happy he was in this movie. I think and hope that Zachary will be the new Spock in any of the new movies.

Kris says:

I wasn’t a huge star trek fan, but wanted to see the movie because of all the action. Well, I absolutely love it! I especially loved Quinto’s protrayal of spock. This is definitely the only time in my life that I’ll think a vulcan is sexy!

caitlin says:

i had never seen anything star trek related before my parents dragged me to see the new movie, but i loved it. and i loved spock. quinto’s rocket it, totally made spock sexy.
