If nothing else works in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek movie, at least one thing will: Zachary Quinto as Spock.
I’m by no means a Photoshop expert, but I took the half-face image of Zack Quinto from the recently seen Star Trek poster and tweaked it until I had a reasonable version of a full-front picture of him as Spock - and it came out pretty good if I do say so myself.

Looking at the image above comparing Quinto to Leonard Nimoy as Mr. Spock I have to say that Abrams and crew could not have come up with a better actor to play the role. Combine that with the way that Quinto comes across low key and even both on screen and in person and you’ve got a winner for our favorite Vulcan.
Here’s a larger version of the picture:

So what do you think? Is this guy Spock or what?
Star Trek opens on May 8, 2009.

Picture is good, there is a strong resemblance between them. But… Does he have the gravely voice? That will make or break it.
Beam me up…Vic!
Niall
The resemblence is quite strong yes, but I think Zack Quinto looks much better
With Leonard nimoy being in it, I’m sure Quinto has the mentor he needs to pull off the legendary Vulcan. He definately has the look down pat.
The green tint was a clever touch.
Smartly done!
I know my way around Photoshop, and have to say, bravo. Who’s chin did you use?
LOL, thanks. I actually found another image of Quinto from the front and scaled it to fit the size of his face from the Star Trek poster, so it’s his chin.
Vic
I hoping this works out. But its risky. Shatner and Nimoy are so tied to their respective characters…its hard to see anyone else take on the role convincingly
Looks good Vic. Great idea…we can make our own promotional materials. :o)
As close as Quinto is visually, his voice is not only different from Nimoy, but also a bit feminine. I would hope that Qunito disguises his voice to something other than what he normally uses.
Although I must admit, the more I see this, the more I start to think that this movie will not work for me. It’s really strange seeing someone else try to be Spock. I had not felt that way until just now. I imagine I will go through the same issues with the other characters too once I see them in uniform.
Wow. I didn’t think I would feel that way. Maybe that’s why JJ’s group is reluctant to release still shots of the new actors in uniform.
Nice job Vic. Though I would tone down the green.

Hmmmm. Leonard’s hair looked real. Quinto’s looks like a plastic mop. This picture is not making me hopeful.
1. Namor!! Let’s see the ankles. (Imperius Rex)
2. Ditch the scruff.
3. It is not logical to devour brains when you can mind meld with them.
Yeah Dave, its called “execution” in the acting world. If they don’t execute these iconic characters perfectly its gonna be a epic disaster. JJ clearly dosnt want anything up on the web til the films cut.
There’s gonna be so much stuff they really can’t do between Spock and Kirk.
(Remember) the first time Spock used the Vulcan Neck pinch, Kirk never saw that before.
One thing that’s funny is I remember Spock telling Kirk how Time travel has never been proven to work.
Any chance we can get the Mirror Mirror version.
(Pun intended) ‘-)
Maybe Vic you can copy and paste your goattee and stash?
Vic
Cool! Now let’s see you do a Mirror Universe version! ;D
woah, looks entirely real Vic
Yeap, he is a perfect looking spock and coincidently he’s a perfect actor for the role with how he played the cold and emotionless Sylar.
Rob,
Sylar was cold– but certainly not emotionless! His utterly wicked look, like when he was with the Wonder Twins and using Weeping Woman, are to DIE for. Literally (eeeps). The lowered head, low overhang brow, evil flash of eyes and “you’re toast” grin are subdued but friggin bone chilling! In fact, since the producers don’t want us to actually SEE Sylar’s money shot, the facial expression is the lead-in to the offscreen violence. No, he doesn’t blurt out Bwahahahas, but when his eyes glint and the brain-eatin’ grin crosses his face…look out! It’s a GREAT leap to the supposedly emotionless Spock.
I hope somewhere during Heroes’ new season they show Sylar raise one eyebrow…that would be a nice nod.
