When Zach Shallcross was cast as the star of The Bachelor season 27, some fans were disappointed, but they did not realize that he might be exactly the kind of leading man that they have been longing for. Zach is a 26-year-old Tech Executive who currently lives in Austin, Texas. He made it to the Fantasy Suites with Rachel Recchia in The Bachelorette season 19 after they formed a strong connection earlier in the season.

After a magical one-on-one date and a successful hometown date, Zach seemed destined to receive Rachel's final rose. However, during their Fantasy suite date, things quickly changed when Rachel began to question if Zach was really ready for an engagement at his young age. Zach later said that Rachel turned into a completely different person behind closed doors, which really shocked him. He left the show heartbroken, but is now ready for another chance at love.

Zach Shallcross Seemed Too Boring To Be The Bachelor

When Zach was announced as The Bachelor's next lead, fans were concerned that he was too boring to carry the show. They had hoped that other contestants from The Bachelor season 19 including Ethan Kang, Nate Mitchell, or The Bachelorette season 18's Rodney Mathews would have been cast instead. However, The Bachelor producers chose Zach, and his journey began during The Bachelorette season 19's "After the Final Rose" episode, when America voted to award Brianna Thorbourne with his first impression rose, a first for the franchise. Even after that appearance, during which Zach was his usual charming, kind, and soft-spoken self, fans still wondered if he had what it takes to be a great Bachelor.

Zach Shallcross May Be Perfect For The Bachelor

The Bachelor fans must realize that Zach is exactly what they have been waiting for. Host Jesse Palmer has said that Zach's season of The Bachelor feels like a throwback, and that there is less drama, but more love. Perhaps "boring" is exactly what the franchise needs right now after years of over-the-top drama. The Bachelor has been the least successful of the three franchise shows, as only Sean Lowe got married to his final choice, Catherine Giudici. The only other couple who is still together are Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell, but their season was marred by racial controversy. After Clayton Echard's disastrous season of the show, Bachelor Nation needs a leading man who knows what he wants, and that is Zach.

Zach wants to be married and become a father, and he seems more self-aware and decisive than any other Bachelor lead from the past few seasons. During Rachel and Gabby Windey's season, he was sincere and romantic, and a true gentleman. Fans got to know him much better than they knew Clayton, who was only on Michelle Young's season of The Bachelorette for a few episodes, and Matt, who was only known as Tyler Cameron's best friend before he took the lead. If the show focuses more on Zach's journey to find love, and less on any drama among the women, it will be successful.

If fans give him a fair chance, Zach might be the best Bachelor yet. Because they have become so accustomed to drama, people are beginning to see stable contestants on the show as boring. However, uncomplicated and drama-free is what makes for a good partner. Zach has charisma and really does seem like a throwback to past seasons, and will be a perfect lead on The Bachelor.
