This could be our first glimpse of Yogi Bear in the wild.

Slash Film has linked to a set of images that could reveal the general look of the character as he’d appear in the upcoming live action/CGI Yogi Bear feature film, based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon.

It’s been nearly four months since Dan Aykroyd, Anna Faris, and Justin Timberlake were cast in the film and we’re definitely hungry for news on the project. The pictures certainly look legit, though we’re obviously suspicious of the timing icon smile First Yogi Bear Images? .

Should it turn out they’re actually fake, Warner Bros. needs to get in contact with whoever created the images – and put them to work.

If the images are to be believed, it appears that Warner Bros. has done a terrific job of creating believable character models, relying heavily on the original designs.

Check out the images of Yogi Bear (Aykroyd) and Boo-Boo (Timberlake) below:

Unlike The Smurfs, which is reportedly uprooting the title characters from their native Smurland and dragging them into the urban sprawl, Yogi Bear is expected to take place right where you would expect – Jellystone Park. Faris will play a documentary filmmaker, with Aykroyd and Timberlake providing voice work for Yogi and Boo-Boo, respectively. Eric Brevig (Journey to the Center of the Earth) will be directing.

Excited? Well, make sure to temper your expectations – as Yogi Bear will be part of the holiday 2010 3D cash-grab, featuring unnecessary 3D visual effects.

What do you think of the designs featured in the pictures? Do you think they’re legit?

Yogi Bear is scheduled for a December 17, 2010 release.

  1. I hope they are legit, looks really good. I grew up watching Yogi Bear growing up, so I'm hoping they get this movie right and not mess up this classic character. I was a bit worried at first about a CGI Yogi Movie, but if they actually look like that I think I will actually go and see it… in 2D of course.

  2. My 2 little girls are so gonna love this movie. I hate the 3D cheese as much as Kofi or anyone else but I'm glad we're getting more younger fan fare friendly films like these.

  3. This is an utter disgrace to Yogi Bear, Hanna Barbera, and the animation/film industry. Original ideas are hard to come by, so Hollywood must ruin the old ones from the past.

  4. Well, it's Dan Aykroyd, so I'll at least D/L it.

  5. As Daws Butler's personal protege, I have to say they look ugly, creepy and unfunny. I hate 3-D and CGI. It makes my eyes hurt. Hanna-Barbera characters belong in the hand-drawn 2-D world of Ed Benedict and Scott Shaw.
