Well, since the older folks used to the the kids playing with the action figures, and since G.I. Joe has always been a toy first, you still have to make it as kid-friendly as possible. That's no small feat, but considering what Sommers has done in the past (though I've never seen Deep Rising), he might actually be a good choice. They're basically action movies with a bit of an edge, but still family-friendly enough for most folks. The older fans might want something a bit harder, but a bit of faithfulness to the subject material would be better than a grittier film that takes too many liberties.
  • You're right, it is both an oxymoron what I said, and how the producers and director will make the film, Vic. I'd hope for a gritty PG-13, if that's less an oxymoron. ;-)

"I personally hope we get a killer PG-13 war movie!"

LOL, that sentence is a complete oxymoron.

To be honest, I don't know how this is going to come out... what sort of tack will they take? Will they aim the movie at older folks who have fond memories of G.I. Joes or at kids who play with the action figures today? One audience allows for a grittier film, the other means that they'll have to tone it done a lot.

    Tricky, to say the least.
