The “Trades” as they’re called (Variety, Hollywood Reporter,etc) have announced today something that you’ve known was probable for over a month if you’re a regular Screen Rant reader.
Jake Gyllenhaal will play the Prince of Persia in Jerry Bruckheimers upcoming film of the same name.
Latino Review first broke the story that Jake was being pursued for the role back on April 8th of this year. Did any of the mainstream media outlets give them any credit?

There’s been a lot of discussion regarding the lack of acknowledgment of what’s come to be called “the new media” by what some are calling the “dinosaur media” via email this past weekend between a bunch of the heaviest hitters in the online movie news world. I felt honored to be included in that discussion.
Collider first brought this up last week in a post on their site and it’s been picked up by Latino Review and now Moviehole as well. I guess I’m throwing my hat in the ring now, too.
The issue is not only the utter lack of recognition when a movie news site breaks a story ahead of one of the big ones and then THEY publish it as if it’s the first that’s been heard about said story - there have also been cases where the originating site’s content has been grabbed and re-published almost verbatim, again with no mention of the originating site.
Now I’ll admit that’s not much of an issue here at Screen Rant… we’re more about dissecting the news and telling you what you should think about it (JUST kidding!) than we are about snagging scoops. But we’re standing with our brothers in a sign of solidarity and just what’s plain right.
Well, hell… THAT certainly went off track, didn’t it? But it’s something that needs to be dragged out into the light of day.

i think jake will be great for this role and this is his franchise he almost got the role of spiderman in spiderman 2 i think he will play this role great
I absolutely love the story behind The Prince of Persia. Also the games were a concluded trilogy so it works perfect to be put into a movie.
not being a gamer , all I know of Prince of Persia is what I’ve seen in commercials for the game.
could someone provide an overview for the uninnitiated ?

Reading the synopsis, I kept thinking of Resident Evil or another zombie film. Still sounds interesting; a different take on the genre.
Personally I found the digression much more interesting than the subject.
Hope the defiance pays off.
I do not get how a great producer like jerry can pick Jake G for the role I am a gamer and man he does not fit. can not see him as the Prince. Look they might work it out but i doubt it.
The movie will be cool in a pirates kind of way but i do not get the casting decision.
I loved all of the Prince of persia games, but i’ve been disappointed with all video game movies that i’m not going to waste my time on this one…

I read the synopsis and it does sound like a zombie flick but it could be fun .
Latino Review seems to break a lot of big stories, and they don’t get any credit beyond a link and a mention from bloggers like us. It doesn’t seem very fair, does it?
I’m going to work on structuring my posts to send more visitors to the sites that break the news.

Hi I think that Jake is a good actor but first off he does not look Persian in anyway. I am pretty sure the extras etc will be. You trying to tell me in the whole acting world the casting crew could not find one talented unknown or known actor to play the part who better suits the part. Prince of Persia is about his acrobatics so I know there will be alot of CGI. Think they should have done the film like Beowulf keep everyone happy.
i was looking through the images on google and i thought paul facinelli would get the role of prince of persia hes got the look and the eyes to play him but i must complain i think jake gyllehall could be a disappointment but i will wait of the movie to come out before i make my mind up
hi i would have to agree with crystal she rite on the whole jake thing im a huge prince of persia freak and have finished all of the prince of persia games maybe apart from the first one cant get past the area when your kind of struck in time anyways i would of thought paul facinelli would get the part aswell but yeah thatz me
