It’s been more than a decade since a xXx movie was on the big screen (xXx: State of the Union was released in 2005), and it has been even longer since Vin Diesel played the role of Xander Cage. However, Diesel is now back  in the role of the extreme sports athlete-turned globe-trotting secret agent and ready to kick ass and take names – with the upcoming three-qual titled (appropriately enough) xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.

Currently shooting in Toronto, Diesel and his Return of Xander Cage co-stars – including martial artist/Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen and Megan Soo – sent a video from the Toronto set of the third xXx film to share with those in the crowd at the 2016 CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Diesel has kept his followers on Facebook updated about the film’s progress by releasing photos from the set throughout production; now however, it’s been revealed exactly when the first proper footage from The Return of Xander Cage will be released to the public.

In the video shown to CinemaCon attendees as part of Paramount Pictures’ presence at the event, Diesel boasted about the impressive cast assembled for xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, which includes UFC champ Conor McGregor, Bollywood Star Deepika Padukone, Toni Collette, Ruby Rose, Samuel L. Jackson and Nina Dobrev. Diesel teases that those names were just a few in the movie, hinting that the film will include even more awesome actors, which he can’t discuss. (State of the Union‘s Ice Cube anyone? Here’s to crossing our fingers.)

Vin Diesel and Samuel L. Jackson filming xXx: The Return of Xander Cage

What Diesel could confirm is that the trailer for xXx: The Return of Xander Cage will debut ahead of Paramount’s upcoming hit franchise installment, Star Trek Beyond (a film directed by Diesel’s former Fast & Furious collaborator, Justin Lin). This means we’ll have to wait until Star Trek’s release on July 22 2016, to see what stunts and actors this action flick will boast on the big screen. Bummer. Nevertheless, Diesel promised that his film will be kick-ass.

The Return of Xander Cage is directed by D. J. Caruso (whose directorial credits include Disturbia, Eagle Eye and I Am Number Four) and is the sequel to 2002’s xXx and 2005’s xXx: State of the Union. This picture is supposed to resemble the original xXx with Diesel back as the lead. He’ll reprise his role of Xander Cage as he comes out of a self-imposed exile. Facing off against warrior Xiang (Donnie Yen), Cage’s new recruits race to recover Pandora’s Box, a deadly and unstoppable weapon.
