THAT'S the trailer I remember!!! Looks better the second time around and I am psyched for this movie.
  • Ken J
Something looks kind of off in the scenes of them outside, the motorcycle/HMVee/helicopter chase scene. I'm not sure, but I think everything is too in focus all at the same time, like a High Dynamic Range photo, which looks weird as a normal shot... Not natural.

Hm, I don't know, I'm actually really liking the looks of this movie, more so then the other two X-Men sequels, and even more than the Watchmen film.

I'm not a fan of comic books though, so the "down to earth-ness" of the first X-Men movie is what I'm kind of seeing here, compared to the pure geekiness of the other two.

It's too bad they couldn't just call it "Wolverine" though, "X-Men Origins" sounds a bit like a straight-to-DVD sequel.
  • No Name Face
I had no problem untill i realize that Hugh Jackman as still wolverine...
i get passed that, nothing is changing that now...
and Liev Schreiber as Sabertooth and i think to myself Why?
can the Directors and Writers, Producers Please read the source Material before the make a Comic book movie?
Hey please read one of the books in the series of Wolvarine Origins, ( i forgot the title it nailed Woverine vs. Sabertooth...
  • Hey gang, I updated the post with 40 screen grabs from the trailer. :-)

I know that this trailer is a green band, but WHY!?! Trailer looks very fun and exciting, but I hope FOX at least keeps the 'bad' language (which was edited from the trailer) in the movie just for grittiness. Here hoping for at least one red band trailer.
  • Cali
The trailer looked awesome and I am totally stoked to see the movie. I'm not sure how I feel about the casting yet when it comes to Gambit and Sabretooth. Liev just doesn't look like the character at all to me but I'll watch it before I judge it.

There was an earlier post over the weekend on this trailer discussing some of the characters seen.
The "icegirl" that ices over I'm betting is Emma Frost who is actually chancing to her diamond form. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's who it was.
Ryan Reynolds to play deadpool..... all I can really say about that one is wow. That's one of those casting calls I think is going to be spot on. He has the personality and over the top smart mouthed attitude to pull that role off perfectly.
Overall the trailer looks good and I think it's going to do what the movie execs want it to and it will be one of the summer's blockbusters
  • @Adrian

I don't think we're going to get a red band trailer for a PG-13 movie. The only time I've EVER seen that happen was with Beowulf, and that didn't make any sense.

the Asian guy, Daniel Henney, (actually half korean who's popular in south korea) is Agent Zero and but I did know Will.i.am was cast as Wraith.

I think the female is suppose to be Silver Fox.
  • Shut up, Stella!
Ric Falir has gained some weight!
  • Shut up, Stella!
Uh...Flair, you know what I meant.

Looks pretty decent to me so far. I liked the action, but I was disturbed by the gambit scenes. It didn't seem right to me. The way gambit threw down was good, just that little "I know who you are Gambit" thing. And I was disappointed they didn't show more deadpool. That scene where Wolvie was fighting an "unknown" assailant (the guy was doing some kind of mid air spinning kick) I personally think that was Deadpool post scars, if you look close. They have that shot blown up over at JoBlo if you want to take a look. So that is encouraging.
  • High Kalibur
Looks absolutely wonderful! Thank you Gavin Hood and thank you 20th Century Fox for realizing that you need to let some directors direct.

I don't know why so much complaining about the plot of the trailer? I've seen a lot worse... like Punisher War Zone. Anyway, won't there probably be another closer to the release?

Schrieber looks great too a hell of a lotr better than that other dude. I don't understand this notion that since Victor Creed is not super-intelligent he must be played by someone with minimal acting skill. Why don't some of you have faith in Scribers ability to bring Sabretooths 'instinctive savagery' to silver screen? It looks like he does it well!

I've accepted that Fos will slaughter the source material of all their comic book adaptions and in some cases, like this one, just make stuff up. I am O.K. with it for Wolverine because it looks like they are doing it skillfully and giving us a taste of things to come i.e. Deadpool while at the same time paying homage to Wolverine's Weapon X background (read those comics!) and apologizing in one way or another, for depriving us of Gambit.

I am looking forward to Wolverine more than any comic book film in the near future. If my take on the film is wrong I will definitely apologize and be heart-broken.

    Go Wolverine! -Snikt-

Just imagine, on the big screen: Wolverine VS. Sabretooth! Can we get some IMAX?
  • I hope this rocks, but the trailer is good so far.

Trailer rocks with one exception - at the end, when Wolvie uses the truck as a jump point to get to the helicopter, they should have stopped there. Showing him ON the helicopter looked lame, IMHO.

Why wouldn't Jackman still be Wolverine? Wolvie's OLD. And in the comics he looks much older than even the age Hugh Jackman is playing him. Not to mention, Wolvie = cool! Hugh Jackman = hot + able to play cool.

And like I said before, so what if Liev Shrieber and Hugh Jackman are close in height? Want they should go back and recast Wolverine as the 5'3 he really is after all this time? Nah.

My favorite topoic on this? Deadpool! Even if it's a crap movie Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are going to rock the hell out of it. I have high hopes for Gambit after seeing that preview.

Wolverine is the movie I've been waiting for since they announced that they were making it a couple of years ago. Come on May 1!!
  • DiZZy
Did anybody else catch a young Storm at 1:53??
  • prtfvr
Yep. I thought the white haired kid was Storm too.
  • Andy S
This looks really, really cool. I am looking forward to seeing this!! Jackman=Wolverine. No one else can take that role now!!!
  • John "Kahless" Taylor
The only real problem I have is their making it PG-13; Wolvie's past is extremely violent and bloody. Well, actually, I have 2 problems: it should be R-rated for violence and Marvel should have produced it (Fox is #1 on the access of evil list).

Doc Brown, it's time to use that flux capacitor again. Destination: May 1, 2009! 8-)
  • Smitty
Ok........I see not problems with the flying of the back of the hummer thing.......the hummer is in the process of flipping.....he is being thrown at the helicopter....am I the ONLY one who sees that?
  • Smitty
I see no problems......not "I see not problems" my bad
  • prtfvr
The only problem that I have with that scene was that the coolness of it was ruined by showing Wolverine actually on the copter. Like, where did we think he was headed?
  • @Smitty

I see not problem also, now that you mention it.

    :-P

    Vic
  • prtfvr
Vic: Problem there is. Blown is suspense. Saying is all I am. :)
  • Jon,

I firmly believe they're keeping Deadpool a big secret for as long as they can. I think he'll be a huge scene stealer and since Fox ix clearly hoping to pop out a spinoff with him, I think he'll be awesome in the movie.

At least I hope - I also hope they give him the full proper outfit and mask.

As for Gambit, I LOVED all of his scenes and showing the glowing card and staff answered some of my questions.

I can get past them not having the red/black eyes but if they droped the cajun accent...I will be incredibly disappointed to the point where I'll expect another X3 (colossus aint russian?).

As of right now, this is in my top 3 most anticipated films of next year.
  • Brooster
maybe in the footage we have seen so far, Schreiber has not yet turned into the Sabretooth we are all familiar with. This is an origin story. Maybe he goes from looking normal into the beast we all know from the comics, may be part of the reason he hates Wolverine so much. Wolvy is a beast but still looks normal..tell me to shut anytime if I am way off base...
  • DiZZy
    @ Rob Keyes

Yeah I agree with you about the Cajun accent. That would seriously destroy it. Here's to hoping that they'll release another trailer with him talking.
  • High Kalibur
    @ John "Kahless" Taylor

Definitely agree that Wolverine should be an R flick but look at how skillfully The Dark Knight was done... a PG 13 doesn't necessarily limit the violence. And let's not joke... Wolverine is violent, no escaping it.

    @ Rob Keyes, Dizzy

Most definitely! Whenever I picture Gambit talking I hear the dude from X-Men The Animated Series! Anyone else think he should sound like that!?
  • S.Matt
    2 things here-
!) Am I the only one who thinks that Sabertooth's fangs look cheesy? Really though, I'm digging Schreibertooth.

and 2) I have a feeling, based on that little shot that could be Wade, that given proper costume and scarring, with the witty banter sure to accompany it, that Deadpool could be one of the coolest comic book "heroes" ever brought to the big screen.
  • @ S.Matt

I actually liked the fangs on Sabretooth. More subtle than huge.
