We’ve done the Wolverine thing to death now and Fox ruined the franchise. I am waiting for a Colossus movie to be done and done right!!!!! X-Men Origins: Colossus would be far more pleasing to the fans than a Magneto movie and we all now how he turns out anyway…the beginning of X-Men 1 was perfect for an intro to him. Now, we need to see ol’ Piotr on the big screen big time!!!

The Pitt Man says:

If they pursue the japanese/samurai storyline, well that’s not too far from the Australian Outback. And there’s nothing like Wolvy with claws glinting in the dust, slicing through a gang of reavers. REAVERS!!! Sentinel technology from the Hellfire club and Donald Pierce, used in mercenaries. Every arm sliced off will grow back like the freakin’ borg. Oh yeah, when Logan is done pussyfootin’ around in the far east with ninjas, he can go down under for some real action.

Rob Keyes says:

@ Pilar,

I’ve got no interest in seeing their American Colossus.

What an easy character to make awesome, I can’t comprehend how they can mess that up. Same goes for Gambit this this recent film.

“Ragin’ Cajun” … who’s not Cajun…

X-Men: Rise Of Apocalypse. Doesn’t that name alone just freaking scream blockbuster?
Fox has screwed the pooch om any chance of the X-men franchise ever resembling anything close to what the comic book readers know and love.

Does anyone here think that X-men is still a hot property? How is that possible? When none of the stories onscreen have any ties to anything in the comics, how can you take any of the classic X-Men stories (The Phoenix Saga, X-Men Vs. Fantastic Four, Days of Future Past, Age Of Apocalypse) and do it any justice.

I love Bryan Singer and what he did to bring to give X-Men life but after Iron Man his vision of Xavier’s band of Merry mutants seems small and very unambitious. (Leather outfits. Storm can’t fly. This sounds like an episode of Smallville) I dont think the movies will stand the test of time. Especially after the Avengers movie comes out and shows characters as they much are shown in the comic books.

I get angry when I think about both X-Men: The Last Stand (Brett Ratner I hope you enjoy direct to video productions) and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. A PG and politically correct version of Wolverine that sets superhero movies back twenty years.

Wolverine vs Mothra. ???

Rob Keyes says:

Here’s a frustrating point.

How can G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra have more blood and violence than X-Men Origins: Wolverine?!

Danny Stampe says:

If Bryan Singer comes back I definitely go see Wolverine 2 in a heartbeat. Origins and X3 weren’t bad, but definitely not great. Singer created this franchise and I think that if he comes back and makes a movie just as good (if not better) as X2 then he can definitely redeem the franchise. C’mon Singer!

Rob Keyes says:

@ Danny

There were rumors of him working on X-Men: First Class, but now that he’s been picked up to helm the Battlestar Galactica movie, it’s unlikely.

I’d like to see Singer to another X-film as well

dannyboy says:

How about Mojo? Nothing has been done with or said about Mojo. I just think the whole Japan story arc will be so one-sided, that it must have something else to it, or it will bomb. I greatly enjoyed the mini-series comics with the arc, but that was 4 issues- not a 2.5 hour movie. BUT, whatever the angle is for the bad guy….. I wanna see the outfit. Don’t care if it’s blue and gold, black and red, or multiple shades of brown. I wanna see it done and done right. Or how about start in Japan, introduce bad guy, take care of business, go back to Canada, join Alpha Flight, fight other bad guy, leave team. Run credits then show him getting butt kicked by Hulk….

Shamose says:

Danny boy… They cant use Hulk…different studios

Mojo wouldnt work on screen, sad but true, he is a gimmick character and I dont think he would translate well t the big screen, especially if its just wolverine solo.

I think the japanese story is the best way to go, silver samarai will look GREAT on screen… perhaps alpha flight could show up… but I would prefer a simpe transtion from the comics with logan vs yakuza

tasouli says:

First off I have to say that x-men orgins should not warrant a sequel, the movie was terrible. Yes, it did make money, but with a sequel I doubt the outcome will be as favorable.

Nevertheless the reality of teh matter is that it will probably get a sequel because Hugh Jackson will sign on and they may reduce the production budget to ensure a larger margin of profitability.

If they go through with it I think that the ideas described above are great. I would LOVE to see Omega Red get tied in to the whole x-men world. The origin of omega red is fantastic and he is a very conflicted character and if the studio finds a good actor to play him more power to them. Silver Samurai also sounds like a very interesting idea and could tie into the whole japanese saga of Wolverine, but for me I would really like to see Omega Red in the next installment.
In addition I think that Victor Creed does not need neccessarily need to me in the next film. I would instead prefer to see more of Gambit.(because to me he was the ONLY cool part of x-men origins) We know that timeline wise we cannot have gambit in an x-men sequel but we coudl still have him in a prequel and we all know that the fans have always loved Gambit.
Who knows what is to come and I think if they make a sequel it will still flop

GUNSMITH says:

YOU KNOW IN THE COMICS, WOLVERINE COULD HAVE GONE ANIMAL LIKE SABERTOOTH IS, BUT BECAUSE HIS BONES WERE LAMINATED WITH ADAMANTIUM, HE NEVER PROGRESSED INTO THE ANIMAL THAT SABERTOOTH EVENTUALLY BECOMES, THERE WAS A STINT WHEN MAGNETO IN THE COMICS RIPS THE ADAMANTIUM RIGHT OFF LOGANS BONES AND HE DOES THE BONE CLAWS FOR A BIT, HE DID PROGRESS INTO MORE OF AN ANIMAL..BUT YEAH, ID LOVE TO SEE LIEV AGAIN, HE DID A AWSOME JOB, WAY MORE INTERESTING THAN TYLER MANES PERFORMANCE WICH HE WAS BASICALLY A BIG BRUTE HENCHMAN.

Django says:

Sounds to me like a limited production budget and the lessons of Origins would dictate
a more modest installment, leaning toward Silver Samurai & Mariko as a real character driven, focused story for the 2nd movie.

Then, if they wanted a cliff hanger, throw Gambit in at the end a Hand side story about the resurrection of Omega Red, done kind of Elektra lives again style so you’re not sure what they’re doing the whole movie (but at least they tie in to the Japan storyline).

Save Team X’s last mission against Omega Red for the 3rd installments opening scene, and you’ll get the type of budget that’s more likely to bring him to screen faithfully, since audiences will be more pleased with less villains in the 2nd movie – but that still leaves rm. to please fans with a brief, low-lit, cream in your jeans Omega Red reveal at the end of the movie.

You listening, Fox? I don’t care if you take my idea. It’s all taken from the comics anyway, which is where they should start in the first place.

(and please, no victor creed in pt II. For Leiv’s sake.)

Django says:

Also, as much as can be extracted from Frank Miller’s original WOLVERINE graphic novel should go into the 2nd movie. It’s the story that put Wolverine on the map to begin with, and its promotion coincided with the infamous “BITE ME, FANBOY” buttons & stickers that could easily be resurrected to garner nostalgic, irreverent interest in a second movie to begin with.

So Fox, I just gave you a 3 point plan for how to rescue your franchise, including a fan based viral marketing campaign that would be sure to please.

Are you listening? I actually liked Wolverine Origins. I didn’t think it was that bad – not great, but good.

And for a kicker – just call the next film “WOLVERINE” (like the Miller graphic novel, which is one of the best things HE ever did, and the reason he was ever on anybody’s map period). It’s like a free reboot get out of jail card, for those of us who were just a little disappointed with this last film.

Do the smart thing. Do what would make the fans happy, while moving forward with a good, character driven narrative that pushes the franchise along.

And market it smartly this time. Seriously. Your guys ad campaign for the last one was horrible – completely unoriginal and simply not creative enough.

Comic Fans are smart. Young audiences in general are smart.
Bring back “Bite Me, Fanboy.” and you’ve written yourself a ticket out of your current hole.

The Pitt Man says:

If the story revolves around the Japanese/yakuza or The Hand, then I think Psylocke could easily fit into the film, I think of Uncanny X-men 256-258. Jim Lee’s pencils were dead on. Logan and Betsy kicked butt together, they’d look great on the big screen.

Rob Keyes says:

More on this soon, folks…

Brian says:

Hey people, has anyone said Cyber yet? He would be the best villian for Wolv 2 I think. Honestly look onto it. They end up rippin one of eachothers eyes out. And MORE Lady Deathstrike b/c she kick’s ass. And she deserves a way better portrayal then her plain lookin appearence in X2.

chris says:

i would like to see schrieber aka sabretoothe show back up in the next film with stryker in a somewhat transformed state with omega red they should be after wolverine, and wolverine should battle silver samuria but they end up fighting togetherand maybe he chops sabrtoothe head off,and wolverine takes omega red out, other then those characters i would love to see chamber, beak, husk, prosimian, glob herman, orb weaver, and mammomax,i wuold love to see the sentinle story in first class, and apocalypse in the magneto film, sinister would be cool to see in any film, and a district-x could be a real chilling and emotional story if told right it would be bishop as a detective hunting wanted mutants and bringing them in you could add mutants that didn’t really make the cut in other x-films. you could also make it grittier and darker for a more growen up version. a generation-x film could be really cool.but everyone wants a x-4 that way we see more of the other characters like colossus, nightcrawler, iceman, and they can bring cyclops back and end the story that way everyone feels better.

chris says:

i know its off subject buti want to see a hulk sequel.

Dani-Girl says:

I hope they don’t make it. The first was a horrid excuse for a movie. Hugh Jackman should be ashamed of his performance

The only one they could use might be Silver Samurai or Viper

michael says:

i want to see wolverine fight the hulk. and i want spiderman to make a guest appearence in the next wolverine or x-men movie. i also want to see more of cyclops and iceman since they had very limited screen time wich was very rude and disrespectful on somebody’s part working on the x-men movie franchise. wolverine get’s too much attention, he is not the whole x-men team & quite frankly i am tired of him.

Rob Keyes says:

@ michael,

None of that can happen unless one studio as all the rights.

Spider-Man, Hulk and X-Men are owned by three different studios.

Until Disney/Marvel has them all, we can’t get those cool cameo crossovers.

I was sad that Cyclops was entirely misused but Wolverine is Fox’s superhero poster boy and he sells as as Wolverine more than any other character from the X-trio.

Ricky07 says:

PLEASE, NO SPIDERMAN IN X-MEN MOVIES AND VICE VERSA, THIS GONNA PURE MESS, THEY ARE FROM DIFFERENT WORLDS

Ricky07 says:

COOL ARTICLE, IT WOULD MAKE SENSE MAKE SENSE OMEGA RED AS THE MAIN VILLAIN, SILVER SAMURAI AS THE SECONDARY, WHO COULD HELP WOLVERINE, BEFORE OMEGA RED HEAD TO JAPAN TO FIGHT WOLVERINE, IT MUST SHOW A BIG FIGHT AT THE BEGINNING BETEWEEN OMEGA AND SABERTOOTH, LEAVING WOLVERINE HALFBROTHER SEVERLY INJURED. SOME FLASHBACKS OF THE WEAPON X FIGHINTING OMEGA WOULD HELP TO FIX SOME GAP[S LEFT ON THE LAST MOVIE

Ricky07 says:

IF SABERTOOTH IS NOT GOING TO MEET WOLVERINE, HE SHOULD NOT BE ABANDONED, WE MUST SEE HOW HE BECOME THAT MORE PRIMITIVE SABERTOOTH SHOWED IN THE FIRST MOVIE

Ricky07 says:

THIS WAS A COOL ARTICLE I WONDER WHY NOT MANY PEOPLE LEFT A COMMENT

Ricky07 says:

WOLVERINE HAS MANY MORE VILLAINS I THINK, IF THIS MOVIE WORK AND JACKMAN WANTS TO MAKE ANOTHER ONE, OTHER VILLAINS COULD BE ON A POSSIBLE THIRD ONE, IF NOT, THEY COULD APPEAR IN THE X-MEN SEQUELS

Jeff Shrock says:

You might as well go with rebooting the original x-men movies bc they ruined so many characters in them. They didn’t really stick to the comic storylines and leave to many gaps to fix.

They’re rebooting fantastic four, ghost rider… who knows what else…

I hope disney/marvel can eventually get all the rights to these movies and make things right.

Here’s what i really wish… They would reboot the x-men movie only with the ideas of the fans! that would be cool.

Jeff Shrock says:

But for this movie i would like to see wolverine go against omega red, with the silver samuri as the secondary. that would be cool and the flashback ideas of team x is a good touch!
