X Men First Class Fan Made Opening Sequence Trailer Cool Retro X Men: First Class Opening Credits Sequence

While we eagerly await for another X-Men: First Class trailer, we did recently find out what the opening scene of the X-Men prequel would entail. Thanks to the talent of a mutant supporter, we also have an incredible fan-made opening credit sequence for the film.

Inspired by the classic films of the 1960s, the video introduces us to the cast and time period of director Matthew Vaughn and producer Bryan Singer’s X-Men: First Class, all to a retro remix of the greatest television theme song ever from the 90s animated X-Men series.

If you’ve been keeping up on our X-Men: First Class coverage, you’ll recognize most of the images featured in this trailer. Some are from the film and some are of the actors in real life, which have been carefully selected to fit in with the style of the video. I do wish they grabbed a still from the film for Jason Flemyng’s Azazel though as he looks totally different without the makeup.

Watch and enjoy:

Now, compare to the official X-Men: First Class trailer.

The use of actual news imagery and footage of the John F. Kennedy era – Cuban Missile Crisis included – totally work in paying tribute powerful and relevant story Singer and Vaughn are pushing for with their take on Marvel’s Mighty Mutants. This video in particular also plays on the notion of Vaughn’s comparisons of X-Men: First Class to James Bond and makes great use of minimalist art to depict the mutant characters and their respective powers.

I love it and the music alone I find powerful. Very well done, Joe D of You’ve successfully fulfilled the void of not yet having a second official X-Men: First Class trailer and Twentieth Century Fox owes you for helping their marketing.

Here are some stills I picked out from the minimalist mutant designs:

X-Men: First Class features a mutant-heavy cast including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Lawrence, January Jones, Rose Byrne, Nicholas Hoult, Jason Flemyng, Zoë Kravitz, Lucas Till, Oliver Platt, Ray Wise, Edi Gathegi, Caleb Landry Jones and Álex González.

X-Men: First Class hits theaters June 3rd, 2011.

  1. pretty cool, i must agree! Bravo to the creator of this!

  2. Very, very sweet. Loved the animation.

    • yh same here

  3. Really cool. I’d really like to see them use this concept for the opening titles.

  4. That´s fantastic. The way the creator combined the cigarette smoke and Azazel´s teleporting. And I love that he used the music from the 90s cartoon and made it sound like 60s bar music.

  5. That’s fantastic. Better than anything I can ever hope to do.

  6. That was incredible. It really sets you up properly for the mood and tone of this film and the era.

This should be used to replace whatever the studio is thinking of using 100%!!!

  7. Brilliant!

  8. Yes that is really cool looking. I wonder what the studio will use

  9. Personally I think it sucks.

    • …ummm, WHY???

      • The music is kinda cool but everything else to me is crappy. Using little pictures through out isnt great. I understand this is fan-made but I have seen better attempts at doing things like this.

        • Oh come on, Elmo. You have to admit that the idea is very original and fits the time period.

        • What!? that was beyond awesome

  10. I thought it was very different. Well done.

  11. Nice Job! Kudos to the creator of this clip. I think that it would fit perfectly with the time period and theme of the film. This just made my excitement for the film double because it shows the potential for the film to be epic if the whole thing is coherent and connected.

  12. Awesome intro. Reminds me of the incredibles

  13. great job

  14. Very good fan work! I have to say that Fox should take some queues from this stuff! Loved the music… now I’m off to Youtube to look for the opening for the 90’s cartoon :D… the nostalgia!

  15. The 90s Animated Series opening theme is SO GOOD!!!

    • Best television theme song EVER.

  16. That theme song was never used for any of the X-Men live action movies which a dumb idea by not using it. That theme is very memorable but I can’t even remember the theme for the live action X-men movies, that’s how boring and uninspiring it was. Marvel Studios needs to step up their game too with their theme music. Superman and Batman have timeless themes, however I can’t think of one theme song form Marvel’s characters that comes to mind as “epic” except for the live action “Incredible Hulk” tv series and the 90’s X-Men animation. That’s it.

  17. Definitely looks more promising than Green Lantern.

    • …ummm, you DO realize this is fan-made, not official…right?

  18. Pretty cool, but I don’t think that it would go all that well with the movie.

  19. thought it was great, but wish the cast names went by just a tad slower so you can read them better

  20. I’m not even going to lie… I caught goosebumps watching this. Fantastic job!
