The marketing for X-Men: First Class began on the wrong foot when its very first image released, depicting a poorly photoshopped banner of the principal cast in costume, yet totally out of context. Most of the posters since then didn’t make up for that mess, but the X-Men: First Class trailers certainly did, and then some.
First Class will be the most challenging sell of the X-Men film franchise to date, bringing back no actors from the series thus far, basing itself as a period piece set in the ’60s and filling out its supporting mutant roster with B-list characters. For the most part, director Matthew Vaughn and producer/story provider Bryan Singer have kept true to the comics in terms of the character designs, even down to the blue and yellow costumes sported by the original X-Men team.
